A small detailed molding was placed in the toe kick space for a decorative traditional molding detail. An arched toe kick valance was used on both sink bases and on both pullouts on either side of the range in this kitchen.

This fun classic kitchen in Gold River features Columbia frameless cabinets in Sandy Hook grey. A green glass backsplash in a random matte and polished pattern complements the cabinets which are faced with both painted wood and frosted glass. The Silestone countertops in the Lyra finish have an ogee bullnose edge. The floors are finished in a rich brown porcelain tile of varying sizes that are made to resemble distressed wood.

My favorite feature in our custom vanities was this pull out kiddie stool addition! The toe kick pulls out to reveal a small stepping stool for the littles :).

2014 ASID Legacy of Design First Place award and HBA ARC Award for kitchens. An airy and light feeling inhabits this kitchen from the white walls to the white cabinets to the bamboo countertop and to the contemporary glass pendant lighting. Glass subway tile serves as the backsplash with an accent of organic leaf shaped glass tile over the cooktop. The island is a two part system that has one stationary piece closes to the window shown here and a movable piece running parallel to the dining room on the left. The movable piece may be moved around for different uses or a breakfast table can take its place instead. LED lighting is placed under the cabinets at the toe kick for a night light effect. White leather counter stools are housed under the island for convenient seating.

A large Franke fireclay sink sits centered at the window and is flanked by two paneled Asko dishwashers. Groehe fixtures include a pot filler at the 48" dual fuel Wolf range. Island cabinetry with seating for six and loads of drawer storage is in Cadet Gray, a subtle contrast to the Anitque White finish of the perimeter cabinets. Counter top is Zodiaq London Sky with 3x12 ceramic gray tile back splash. Island and spice pull outs feature large furniture legs which complement the hand carved corbels at the wood hood. Up lighting at the crown molding and under cabinet lighting further enhance the beauty of this kitchen.

The three-level Mediterranean revival home started as a 1930s summer cottage that expanded downward and upward over time. We used a clean, crisp white wall plaster with bronze hardware throughout the interiors to give the house continuity. A neutral color palette and minimalist furnishings create a sense of calm restraint. Subtle and nuanced textures and variations in tints add visual interest. The stair risers from the living room to the primary suite are hand-painted terra cotta tile in gray and off-white. We used the same tile resource in the kitchen for the island's toe kick.

KITCHEN: This open floor plan kitchen is a mix of materials in a modern industrial style. The back L portion is black painted wood veneer with dark stainless steel bridge handles with matching dark stainless countertop and toe kick. The island is a natural ruxe wood veneer with dark stainless steel integrated handles with matching toe kick. The counter top on the island is a honed black quartz. Integrated Miele refrigerator/freezer and built in coffee maker. Wolf range and classic stainless steel chimney hood are the perfect appliances to bridge the look of modern and industrial with a heavy metal look.

Maximizing the functionality of this space, and coordinating the new kitchen with the beautiful remodel completed previously by the client were the two most important aspects of this project. The existing spaces are elegantly decorated with an open plan, dark hardwood floors, and natural stone accents. The new, lighter, more open kitchen flows beautifully into the client’s existing dining room space. Satin nickel hardware blends with the stainless steel appliances and matches the satin nickel details throughout the home. The fully integrated refrigerator next to the narrow pull-out pantry cabinet, take up less visual weight than a traditional stainless steel appliance and the two combine to provide fantastic storage. The glass cabinet doors and decorative lighting beautifully highlight the client’s glassware and dishes. Finished with white subway tile, Dreamy Marfil quartz countertops, and a warm natural wood blind; the space warm, inviting, elegant, and extremely functional.

Every square inch must serve a function when you are downsizing. In this kitchen designer Carol Kornak replaced a desk area (a home office is located in another part of the home) with a beverage center for coffee, wine and other beverages. The location keeps traffic out of the main cooking area and allows guests to help themselves. The cabinets were custom painted a warm off-white to match the existing woodwork throughout the home. The glittery Cambria countertops complement the crystal pendant lights and crystal hardware.
