This San Rafael front landscape has been dramatically updated with a welcoming concrete pathway entrance, and complimented by a variety of architectural plants, hardy succulents, textural grasses and a majestic, fruitless olive tree. The dramatic transformation is enhanced by a raised corten steel planter at the pathway entrance with gravel and succulents. Two horizontal ipe wood structures provide contemporary accents. New raised concrete planters alongside the new concrete driveway define the property and showcase more colorful succulents. A beautiful gray house paint color and ipe accents complete the remodel. This ocean-front shingled Gambrel style house is home to a young family with little kids who lead an active, outdoor lifestyle. My goal was to create a bespoke, colorful and eclectic interior that looked sophisticated and fresh, but that was tough enough to withstand salt, sand and wet kids galore. The palette of coral and blue is an obvious choice, but we tried to translate it into a less expected, slightly updated way, hence the front door! The owner's preferred mode of transportation, a prized and valuble bicycle, is stored neatly behind a folding screen near the entry for ease of access and security. The large bike rack provides storage for all the necessities of "2 wheel" travel.

Land2c The pink low Ballerina Rose combined with the Rosy Glow Barberry is set off well with the base of blue/gray Blue Oat Grass and Golden Creeping Jenny. All tough and beautiful plants.

A leaky garden tub is replaced by a walk-in shower featuring marble bullnose accents. The homeowner found the dresser on Craigslist and refinished it for a shabby-chic vanity with sleek modern vessel sinks. Architectural Design Services Provided - Existing interior wall between kitchen and dining room was removed to create an open plan concept. Custom cabinetry layout was designed to meet Client's specific cooking and entertaining needs. New, larger open plan space will accommodate guest while entertaining. New custom fireplace surround was designed which includes intricate beaded mouldings to compliment the home's original Colonial Style. Second floor bathroom was renovated and includes modern fixtures, finishes and colors that are pleasing to the eye.

More walnut? Actually, this is a hickory countertop with a dark walnut stain. The homeowners wanted a little more "toughness" for their countertops and opted for stained hickory. How tough? They still make tool handles and baseball bats from hickory, so tough enough for a residential kitchen.
