Inspiration for a contemporary bedroom remodel in New York

After going through the tragedy of losing their home to a fire, Cherie Miller of CDH Designs and her family were having a difficult time finding a home they liked on a large enough lot. They found a builder that would work with their needs and incredibly small budget, even allowing them to do much of the work themselves. Cherie not only designed the entire home from the ground up, but she and her husband also acted as Project Managers. They custom designed everything from the layout of the interior - including the laundry room, kitchen and bathrooms; to the exterior. There's nothing in this home that wasn't specified by them. Custom designed by Giuseppe Abbrancati, and built by Gappsi, this 9/11 memorial site sits in front of the Commack high school football field. Engraved pavers, all made of flamed granite, were placed along the walkway’s borders, along with benches, and a pedestal on which a part of a steel beam from the twin towers was mounted on. Synthetic grass filled in the remaining areas. This site remains present every day to remember those from the Commack Smithtown and Huntington community whose lives were affected during 9/11 tragedies.

The grey trend has evolved in the last twelve months. Nowadays browns, beige and a touch of grey are in demand. Greige is the new buzzword. Heavier hand scraped or contoured products, the rage that started around 2005 has taken a back seat in most areas, while a softer wire brushed "ceruse effect" seen mostly on White Oak has been remarkably strong showing no effects of becoming “dated” like the others mentioned. Ceruse Color Possibilities There are numerous color combinations to the "cerused" process with the most popular being white or off white. This design trend in hardwood flooring can have darker gray white oak with a mild ceruse off white effect. There are limitless possibilities in either a prefinished hardwood floor or with what we can create for you in a custom on-site finished hardwood floor. If something suits your fancy, contact us and we can work on creating just the look and sense of style you are looking for.

Project Name: Rivertop Location: Talking Rock, Georgia Architecture By: James Knight Photography By: Kalyn Kight Project Description: Perched high above the flowing waters of Talking Rock Creek, Rivertop is a luxurious family mountain retreat nestled in the scenic landscapes of North Georgia. Designed by lead architect James Knight of Reynard Custom Homes, this bespoke getaway was born out of a profound sense of purpose. After a personal family tragedy struck, the owners sought a sanctuary—a place thoughtfully designed and built where the family could gather, heal, and create new memories. The home embodies the essence of an elevated mountain lodge, blending creative passion with tranquil natural surroundings. Every detail was meticulously crafted to ensure the home serves as both a high-end luxury getaway and a comfortable, grounding family retreat.

Art project. Honolulu. Hawaii. Art studio Sergey Konstantinov. San Francisco. 15/40 in. twelve color inkjet print on canvas. Limited edition, signed by the artist. Painting Bookshelves. Artist Sergey Konstantinov. The creative proposal for this painting originated from Ann Getty, who desired a painting of a bookshelf. I designed a composition of two bookshelves side-by-side in a diptych style. Each bookshelf is divided into four parts, exhibiting disciplines of the humanities: theatre, literature, and art. The masks displayed at the top shelves are recognized as a symbol of theatre and drama, and originate from Greek mythology. I sketched the masks to determine the placement of the comedy and tragedy character. Old but precious books line the middle shelves, with each book presenting a title of Getty’s favorite author. The delicate art of blue and white Porcelain Delft pottery is displayed below the literary works.

A customer in Leawood, Kansas asked us to make a kitchen table for their family. They wanted to be involved in the process of choosing the reclaimed wood. Originally they were thinking they would like walnut wood, but they eventually chose some beautiful ash wood. Because of the emerald ash borer many ash trees have had to be removed from cities all across the US. Despite this tragedy, HAVA studios and many others are reclaiming this wood that would be sent to a burn pile into beautiful furniture, bar tops and other functional art work pieces such as bowls and serving boards. We were delighted to produce this ash kitchen table with custom steel fabricated base as well as provide the contrasting walnut wood chairs and matching bar stools. How can we help you on your next creative project?
