This project encompasses the renovation of two aging metal warehouses located on an acre just North of the 610 loop. The larger warehouse, previously an auto body shop, measures 6000 square feet and will contain a residence, art studio, and garage. A light well puncturing the middle of the main residence brightens the core of the deep building. The over-sized roof opening washes light down three masonry walls that define the light well and divide the public and private realms of the residence. The interior of the light well is conceived as a serene place of reflection while providing ample natural light into the Master Bedroom. Large windows infill the previous garage door openings and are shaded by a generous steel canopy as well as a new evergreen tree court to the west. Original Arts and Crafts kitchens often incorporated an inglenook, eating area. This bench includes a drawer and a side door. The table is solid, quarter-sawn, white oak. The custom designed hutch on the right would be a treasured addition to any Craftsman Style setting. The kitchen and Inglenook represent an historical interpretation of a Stickley modern kitchen using the details and features of G. Stickley's craftsman era furniture. All items were made using old growth quarter sawn white oak. Construction features include full mortise and tenon joinery, craftsman hardware, pegs in the doors, dovetailed drawer and true divided glass light doors with mitered muttons. These pieces were fumed to obtain the precise coloration rather than utilize a stain as was many of G. Stickley's white oak furniture. Our craftsman will meet the standards set by our clients and ensure the architect and or designer the implementation will be true to their vision. Project # 15921.1
