Pirouettes are a beautiful addition to any window, especially this one. When they are all the way up (as in this picture) you can't even tell there is a shade there. Which allows a very clear view through your window when you want it.

We wanted our client to have full function with their living room window treatments. So we used a semi-opaque screen shade to diffuse the incoming daylight and hand drawn custom drapery treatments for complete privacy that also soften the appearance of the window. This picture you can see how the screen shade functions to diffuse the daylight and the appearance of the hand drawn draperies when they are partially closed.

The time has arrived! Hunter Douglas™ introduces the Track Glide™ System, specifically designed for those hard to reach places, turn and tilt windows, and French doors. The system is installed along the frame of your windows for simple operation and easy access. It's the future of window covering application and offered exclusively with Duette® Honeycomb shades.

The Tice Residences replace a run-down and aging duplex with two separate, modern, Santa Barbara homes. Although the unique creek-side site (which the client’s original home looked toward across a small ravine) proposed significant challenges, the clients were certain they wanted to live on the lush “Riviera” hillside.
The challenges presented were ultimately overcome through a thorough and careful study of site conditions. With an extremely efficient use of space and strategic placement of windows and decks, privacy is maintained while affording expansive views from each home to the creek, downtown Santa Barbara and Pacific Ocean beyond. Both homes appear to have far more openness than their compact lots afford.
The solution strikes a balance between enclosure and openness. Walls and landscape elements divide and protect two private domains, and are in turn, carefully penetrated to reveal views.
Both homes are variations on one consistent theme: elegant composition of contemporary, “warm” materials; strong roof planes punctuated by vertical masses; and floating decks. The project forms an intimate connection with its setting by using site-excavated stone, terracing landscape planters with native plantings, and utilizing the shade provided by its ancient Riviera Oak trees.

Shutters provide maximum privacy and light control at your windows. You can tilt the louvers to adjust the light and view to the outside or you can close the louvers for maximum privacy.

This beautiful Birmingham, MI home had been renovated prior to our clients purchase, but the style and overall design was not a fit for their family. They really wanted to have a kitchen with a large “eat-in” island where their three growing children could gather, eat meals and enjoy time together. Additionally, they needed storage, lots of storage! We decided to create a completely new space.
The original kitchen was a small “L” shaped workspace with the nook visible from the front entry. It was completely closed off to the large vaulted family room. Our team at MSDB re-designed and gutted the entire space. We removed the wall between the kitchen and family room and eliminated existing closet spaces and then added a small cantilevered addition toward the backyard. With the expanded open space, we were able to flip the kitchen into the old nook area and add an extra-large island. The new kitchen includes oversized built in Subzero refrigeration, a 48” Wolf dual fuel double oven range along with a large apron front sink overlooking the patio and a 2nd prep sink in the island.
Additionally, we used hallway and closet storage to create a gorgeous walk-in pantry with beautiful frosted glass barn doors. As you slide the doors open the lights go on and you enter a completely new space with butcher block countertops for baking preparation and a coffee bar, subway tile backsplash and room for any kind of storage needed. The homeowners love the ability to display some of the wine they’ve purchased during their travels to Italy!
We did not stop with the kitchen; a small bar was added in the new nook area with additional refrigeration. A brand-new mud room was created between the nook and garage with 12” x 24”, easy to clean, porcelain gray tile floor. The finishing touches were the new custom living room fireplace with marble mosaic tile surround and marble hearth and stunning extra wide plank hand scraped oak flooring throughout the entire first floor.

Our client was looking to diffuse the incoming daylight without distracting from the true focal point of their sunroom. Using Designer Screen shades that coordinate with the window trim, they blend in with the windows and allow the set-in grill to draw your attention in the space.
