The odd floor plan of the master bedroom and window styles (see balcony door in next photo) creates several logistic challenges like window treatment, furniture and TV placement. To camouflage the odd window shapes, a 'silk' roman shade in the same color as the wall will be used. The material itself is thin while providing total blackout. Photo by Robin Lechner Designs

There are many ways to use patterns in a room, here we have a seating area that sits in an open great room. While the sectional that is out of view is a solid gray, we decided to differentiate this seating space with an ikat pattern on the swivel chairs. We balanced all that pattern with a textured rug that has both the ivory and gray in it. That way we ground the pattern in the room and keep it from getting to busy.

The charming dining area blends a contemporary table, traditional chairs, and a classic brass chandelier. The 'Grandmother' clock separates the dining from the living space. The area rug conceals any spills or stains. Photo by Robin Lechner Designs

My goal for each design project is to create a beautiful environment that feeds the client's soul and improves their quality of life. The finished spaces provide a place of refuge and joy- an oasis that works equally well in solitude or while entertaining. This Fells Point project does exactly that -- it surrounds the homeowner with nostalgic treasures that connects them with their past and incorporates new elements that revitalize the space, creating a sense of optimism for the future.
