Walking through this Industrial-Contemporary home is a treat. It intrigues your ideas and thoughts, it pushes the people within the space to feel inspired, successful and hopeful. The contemporary and industrial textures mixed together form a team of undeniable unity. This type of feeling comes form a splash of French-Country in the shiplap, and the depth of the colors and textures lining the home. When used along side the natural stains thought the home, the space has a brilliant feminine style, mixed with a masculine flavor. The textures found in the wheatgrass wallpapers throughout the space, lend a softer flavor up against the stone, and large paneled porcelain on the fireplaces. Window coverings, drapes and the window drape liners soften the direct lines in this project. Porcelain countertops create a contemporary feel in the kitchen and bathrooms. Porcelain countertops are a home run! If you're looking for a product that doesn't require maintenance but looks amazing, porcelain countertops are a product used often in high end homes and have great success. Of course, install is usually only successful when using the correct installer. Laminam porcelain countertops don't hair line fracture like many of the other porcelain countertops.

This Jack and Jill master bathroom is a very unique space. The painted cabinets are different than the others used in the house but they still have a traditional/transitional style. The shiplap throughout the house gives the whole house a sense of unity.

The original foyer was too tiny to accommodate guests – its closet was too small to hold coats, and darkly stained wood paneling made the space seem even smaller. We replaced the stained wood with painted wood, which lightened up the space while staying true to the traditional 1930s style of the home. We used the same painted wood to frame doorways and windows throughout the first floor, which added to its overall sense of visual unity.

Located in Mar Vista, California, this home is characterized by a focus on clear and functional design. A play between light and dark colors are infused in the home and mirrored in the cabinetry design to create an uninterrupted flow in the home. Large windows highlight the contrasting materials and textures, creating unity and excitement.

The Versailles Mirror has a 1 ½” beveled clear glass mirror and gold beaded filet has a very ornately carved exquisite gold frame and is able to hang horizontally or vertically.
Additional Information: The process of painting on wood enables me to recreate the countenance of an ancient fresco. Using the wood’s grain as my canvas, I employ multiple hand layered painting techniques to build the background, and, once completed, I then sketch my design directly onto the surface. Then comes the painstaking application of paints to create colors and textures intrinsic to the piece.
The addition of layer upon layer of glazes and varnishes consummates the artwork’s depth and translucency, similar to that of stained glass…and a good sprinkling of Swarovski crystals allow it light up any room. In the end, I look for total unity in design, accenting each work of art with the perfect frame and accenting each piece with pure gold or silver leaf. -Michelle Woolley Sauter, One Coast Design

Some remodeling customers are uncertain about the best way to change the look of their space, and turn to us at Kitchen Magic for guidance; other homeowners already have a clear idea of what they want, and ask us to make their vision a reality. The latter was very much the case in a recent remodeling project we completed in Milford, New Jersey.
The home had been designed by the homeowner, who was clearly accustomed to creating and implementing an artistic vision for their living space. By the time Kitchen Magic arrived on the scene, the homeowner already had clear ideas about the colors and materials that would go into creating the look of their new kitchen. Cabinet refacing was the perfect solution for staying within budget, yet still having the kitchen they had always dreamed of.
Building on the Existing Decor is Key
The sleek, black appliances already in place demanded a bold complement, and the rich, deep hue of Cordovan on Cherry stain fit the bill perfectly. The arched cabinet doors add a classic touch of elegance, but one that blends seamlessly with the modern feel of the other design elements. The clean lines and chrome finish of the cabinet hardware serve to unite the vivid cherry cabinetry with the gray toned counters and backsplash.
That backsplash, a custom design envisioned by the homeowner, brings both unity and contrast to the entire space. The splashes of lighter values brighten the deep red tones of the cabinets, keeping the room from feeling too dark. The use of texture and varied tonal values create a unique piece that adds dimension to the kitchen's personality and reflects the creative energy of the homeowners.
The luxury of the deep cherry-red cabinets and the sleekly modern lines of the furnishings create a timeless and bold back drop for the counters, and only one stone perfectly fits that bill: granite! The black Uba Tuba granite countertops chosen by the homeowners have the visual weight and richness to pair with the Cordovan on Cherry, and the marbling of lighter and darker values echo of the custom-designed backsplash over the range, completing the new design.
Taken together, the effect of the homeowners' choices create a striking, elegant, and almost decadent feel without any heavy or dark characters. The sleek lines and organic look created by the arched cabinet doors give the room a sense of grace and motion that is entirely appropriate to the homeowners' aesthetic, given their fondness for the adventure of hot-air ballooning and active life style.

CLASSICALLY MODERN HAVEN BY THE HILLS
A mid-century Eichler renovation, optimized for sunlight and the vistas of the valley. Structural adaptations allow for extensive glazing, achieving seamless integration of the landscape to create unity and spatial flow.

The objective was to create a warm neutral space to later customize to a specific colour palate/preference of the end user for this new construction home being built to sell. A high-end contemporary feel was requested to attract buyers in the area. An impressive kitchen that exuded high class and made an impact on guests as they entered the home, without being overbearing. The space offers an appealing open floorplan conducive to entertaining with indoor-outdoor flow.
Due to the spec nature of this house, the home had to remain appealing to the builder, while keeping a broad audience of potential buyers in mind. The challenge lay in creating a unique look, with visually interesting materials and finishes, while not being so unique that potential owners couldn’t envision making it their own. The focus on key elements elevates the look, while other features blend and offer support to these striking components. As the home was built for sale, profitability was important; materials were sourced at best value, while retaining high-end appeal. Adaptations to the home’s original design plan improve flow and usability within the kitchen-greatroom. The client desired a rich dark finish. The chosen colours tie the kitchen to the rest of the home (creating unity as combination, colours and materials, is repeated throughout).

Located in the coveted West End of downtown Greenville, SC, Park Place on Hudson St. brings new living to old Greenville. Just a half-mile from Flour Field, a short walk to the Swamp Rabbit Trail, and steps away from the future Unity Park, this community is ideal for families young and old. The craftsman style town home community consists of twenty-three units, thirteen with 3 beds/2.5 baths and ten with 2 beds/2.5baths.
The design concept they came up with was simple – three separate buildings with two basic floors plans that were fully customizable. Each unit came standard with an elevator, hardwood floors, high-end Kitchen Aid appliances, Moen plumbing fixtures, tile showers, granite countertops, wood shelving in all closets, LED recessed lighting in all rooms, private balconies with built-in grill stations and large sliding glass doors. While the outside craftsman design with large front and back porches was set by the city, the interiors were fully customizable. The homeowners would meet with a designer at the Park Place on Hudson Showroom to pick from a selection of standard options, all items that would go in their home. From cabinets to door handles, from tile to paint colors, there was virtually no interior feature that the owners did not have the option to choose. They also had the ability to fully customize their unit with upgrades by meeting with each vendor individually and selecting the products for their home – some of the owners even choose to re-design the floor plans to better fit their lifestyle.

When Mike and Joan Walters purchased a penthouse in The Luxe, a 23-story luxury condominium near Piedmont Park in Atlanta, they called on Margaret Barnett, Barnett & Co., and her associate Walter Kennedy to design the interiors and consult on furniture selections.
For sourcing most of their furnishings, the Walters looked to another designer they’d known and worked with, Atlanta Cantoni’s Mercedes Williams.
The Walters ProjectThe finished product demonstrates that this turned out to be a brilliantly creative collaboration among client, designers and Cantoni.
With each room framed by the wraparound balcony and spectacular views, the 3,200-square foot penthouse is washed in natural light, the team’s basic design element.
The beautiful wood floors and custom cabinetry and stone flooring and fireplace anchor a palette of warm neutral colors––from black to white, from dark chocolates to buttery yellows–– that blend into a harmonious unity throughout. Subtle accents are delivered by lighting, antique carpets, accessories and art.
The Walters ProjectThe collaboration was clockwork. Says Mercedes, “I’d meet with the client and designers in our showroom to discuss the project and tour our collections. The designers and I fine-tuned the options, then again with the client to finalize their selections. On a project like this, you really appreciate Cantoni’s huge selection and in-stock inventory.”
Mike sums it up: “Joan and I knew perfectly well what we wanted and Margaret, Walter and Mercedes tuned in to our vision and made it reality. Life is good when you can blend the ideas of smart, accomplished people to create a fantastic home.”
The Walters ProjectThanks to Mike and Joan for choosing Cantoni and for permitting us to showcase their fantastic new home in this eNewsletter. Thanks as well to Margaret Barnett and Walter Kennedy and finally, congrats to Mercedes Williams and Cantoni Atlanta for their contribution.

Period furnishings were used to recreate the French decorative style of Louis XVI for this master bedroom. Upholstered frame, antique night stands, ottoman, accent chair, and traditional hand-knotted wool area rug provide authenticity. Wood tones of cream, tan, and brown produce harmony and unity. The floral and plaid patterns of gold and blue-green add variety. Mirrored closet doors reflect and brighten the space. French doors, adorned with antique hardware and shutters lead to a private balcony.
