Kitchen - large contemporary kitchen idea in DC Metro

This kitchen is the central feature of a "Universal design" for a two-level urban apartment renovation. Universal design creates environments that are accessible to all people, regardless of age, disability or other factors. Universal design allows us and our loved ones to stay at home during rehabilitation or while living with a disability. Universal design also allows us to age in place while we stay in our homes.

In June of this year, we presented US Army Spc Heath Howes with a mortgage-free custom home in partnership with Operation FINALLY HOME. The home was designed with Universal Design principles in mind to accommodate mobility issues related to his combat injuries. Artaic collaborated with CannonDesign to create this stunning custom mosaic for the University of North Carolina’s new recreation center pool and classrooms. Using our 3/4″ Vitreous Glass, the design features the steady flow of the water that is reflected in the pool while matching the same design as a feature in their classrooms.
