Set along the Gros Ventre, the custom ranch home rises from stone relics of long-gone walls, a material authenticity echoed in the use of timbers reclaimed from a 19th century homestead. The panorama defined the design schema, with every room framing the all-mighty Grand Teton.

I used an Arizona flagstone for the pathways for several reasons; it has a smaller “footprint” than other flagstones as it comes from just one state over from California. I love that the pieces could be sourced in extra-large sizes, which were perfect for their large scale garden. This flagstone is also authentic to the property, as it would most likely be the same stone used at the existing 50’s ranch house during the time. This brand new home in Kirkland was given rustic appeal with our installation of stone veneer to the exterior and pillars. Echo Ridge Country Ledgestone by Boral was used to complete this project with charcoal gray concrete paving throughout the entryway and pathways leading around the house.

Our showcase kitchen was envisioned to be a modern farmhouse dream. To encompass the trend we used period lighting, a combination of cream, black and natural wood tones. Authentic natural maple hardwood flooring. Partially stained wood and painted cream custom cabinets for contrast and definition. The spacious kitchen island made of Vicostone Carrara honed Quartz is attached to the dining table. White fireclay farmhouse sink. Premium JennAir appliances. Finished with cream faux leather dining chairs and farmhouse decor.

This MossCreek custom designed family retreat features several historically authentic and preserved log cabins that were used as the basis for the design of several individual homes. MossCreek worked closely with the client to develop unique new structures with period-correct details from a remarkable collection of antique homes, all of which were disassembled, moved, and then reassembled at the project site. In this authentic adobe Hacienda-style home, we took out the drab 80s style guest bathroom and opted for a more sumptuous "Old Mexico" style. We broke into an adjoining closet to create a separate walk-in shower (left) and toilet room and thus significantly enlarge the space. Replacing a standard vanity with pedestal sinks additionally opened up the room and continued the "old world" look. Authentic tile from across the border (not found in U.S., and much cheaper) was used in the typical Mexican "chair rail" style and the three-color scheme (blue, white and sand) keep it all unified. Local authentic wood furnishings (both new and finds) plus tin and Talavera ceramic accessories complete the look. In the master bath, we wanted a relaxing retreat for this couple. We used all white tile and continued the Old World style but created a wet room with clawfoot slipper tub and Portuguese tile accent "picture". The tub faces a glass door with stunning mountain views. We installed a shower spa (instead of jet tub), so that both can enjoy the room at the same time but in different forms.

With stunning views of the Annisquam River, this beautiful first period home was constructed in 1690 for Nathanial Harraden, sailing master of the USS Constitution. It is believed to be the oldest remaining house in this neighborhood of Gloucester. Our extensive historic restoration preserved the integrity and historic details of the original structure, which had been altered significantly over time. Deteriorated structural elements were repaired or rebuilt, and historic elements including beams were revealed. A bright new kitchen and bathrooms provide a functional layout suited for modern living, and use authentic natural materials that will patina and weather in harmony with the rest of the home. The new island counter was hewn from a large decaying tree on the site, and hand-painted marble tiles adorn the backsplash. New cabinetry was hand-crafted using methods authentic to the time. We preserved the kitchen’s existing brick floor, which originally provided a durable surface for milking animals inside during cold winter months. Using authentic materials and craftsmanship of the era, this special house celebrates its historic character and embraces modern updates that will welcome home generations to come.
