This period-style, new construction horse barn was designed to match the aesthetics of the neighboring residence and was built by King Construction Company, LLC. This property features a 23,000 square foot arena as well as a 5,000 square foot stable.
The windows manufactured by Parrett consisted of both concealed balance double hung windows and stationary sash set units. All windows were constructed of mahogany and the operable units featured lacquered solid brass hung window hardware.
Traditional putty glazing featuring a custom profiled wood true divided lite muntin was utilized in combination with 1/4” thick single pane clear glass, perfectly exemplifying the desired aesthetics of this building.
Several other custom window profiles were created by Parrett to make these windows perfectly match the customer’s intended specifications, which included flat casings with crown cap, keystones, crown mouldings, brickmoulds, and subsills.

These Northern Virginia residents have owned this vacation home for about ten years. With retirement imminent, they decided to give the entire home an over-haul. With it’s great bones and amazing location, this seemed like a very sound investment for their future. Paola McDonald from Olamar Interiors had been working with the clients for the past three years, helping them to renovate their Sterling, VA condominium and their Moorefield, WV weekend home. It seemed fitting that they would also hire her to help them renovate this home as well.
For this project we took the home down to the studs and practically rebuilt it. The renovation includes an addition to the basement level and main floor to create a new fitness room, additional guest bedroom and larger kitchen and dining area. It also included a renovation of the facade of the home. The exterior of the home was completely re-sided and painted, and we added the tall windows at the stairs. The lower entry deck was expanded and an upper deck was added just off the kitchen in order for the homeowner to keep his grill away from the strong ocean winds. A new deck was also added off of the master bedroom. New stainless steel railings were added to all the decks. We opened the homes stairwells, adding custom glass railings and new lighting to create a much more open feel and allow for natural light to flood the entire main living area. The original, tiny kitchen was expanded substantially, adding a large custom eat in bar, wine storage area and plenty of storage. We utilized Decora’s Marquis Cabinetry in an espresso finish to give the kitchen a very clean, contemporary feel. Carrara marble countertops paired with a grey quartz, single slap marble backsplash, and stainless appliances create a clean look. In the new dining area, a simple Modloft dining table was paired with a Regina Andrew bubbles chandelier and Jessica Charles dining chairs for a sophisticated feel accentuated perfectly by beachy colors and textures that tie in the beautiful views of the Ocean. A custom chandelier from John Pomp is the highlight of the family room, particularly at night when it is reminiscent to fireflies in the sky. A new custom designed, custom made sectional, cozy newly added Spark Modern Fires gas fireplace, custom rug by Julie Dasher and Lee Industries chairs create a cozy place to lounge and watch television after a long day at the beach. Guests feel like they are in a luxurious boutique hotel complete with spectacular views, comfortable Ann Gish linens and beautiful and unique lighting fixtures. All three full baths and the powder room received complete facelifts with new glass, marble and ceramic tiles, Decora cabinetry, new lighting fixtures, quartz countertops and unique features that make unique statements in each one. Phillip Jeffries mica wallpaper are used in the entryway and family room fireplace walls to add a sandy texture to each space. Phillip Jeffries grasscloth was added to the master bedroom accent wall to create a delicate feature. New flooring throughout includes gorgeous dark stained hardwood floors, ceramic tile and Karastan carpeting in the bedrooms. The crisp white and grey walls are accentuated throughout the home by beach inspired turquoises, navies and lime greens. Perfectly appointed furnishings, artwork, accessories and custom made window treatments complete the look and feel of this gorgeous vacation home.

This gorgeous glass front wine cellar was built in a downstairs basement area within this Manhattan Beach, Los Angeles home overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Contemporary Modern architecture with a mix of rustic features line this Los Angeles Home - with this stunning glass wine room riding those same lines. Stone layered walls with dual paned glass windows and front make for a real stunning showpiece of a wine cellar from the outside looking in.
Wine Cellar Design and Wine Cellar Installation come naturally to the Wine Cellar Builders at Vintage Cellars. Wine Rooms consistently include more glass as a design feature in recent years, and this masterpiece is no exception in showing off these magnificient wines on display.
Unique Design features within this Glass wine room include dual waterfall displays, LED lit high reveal display rows, floor to ceiling Horizontal full reveal display, and matching stained ceiling beams.
Modern Wine Cellars incorporating glass should utilize dual paned glass to minimize heat loss. Glass, especially single pane, is not a great insulator and can cause wine cellars to lose cooling ability and force cooling units to run more regularly.

The owners of this 1956 Brooklyn Park home called us in to create a more functional and updated kitchen. They entertain and cook a lot, so requested that we add more countertop space, utilize the wasted area in front of the sliding glass door, and maximize storage. They also had a great inspiration photo that helped us to create the warm yet sleek look. The kitchen received a major transformation with the dark hickory chocolate frameless cabinetry and contrasting high gloss white doors and quartz countertops. By moving the refrigerator the owners gained workspace on either side of the new gas range. We placed an angled peninsula near the sliding glass door. The peninsula provides seating for two, great working space, and cabinetry with roll-outs. An existing closet was transformed into a functional pantry, adding drawers to the base and roll-outs behind the upper doors. Under cab lighting, pendants, and puck lights supplement the recess lights without overwhelming the room. Other unique features in this kitchen are the essentially hidden Broan Elite range hood, the Mirabelle spring-style single handle faucet, under counter water purification system and the beautiful linear marble backsplash.

Inspired by the architecture of the prestigious Regent Street in London, the exterior of this city home has an elegant and refined street presence. A thoughtful floor plan cleverly utilizes the project’s narrow site to provide an open, but defined light-filled interior. Custom detailing paired with colorful finishes, create an inviting and vibrant family home.

Custom thatched Palapas designed into this tropical backyard theme with white picket fence. Single pole utilized 11' Diameter woven Mexican Rain Cape Thatch and the two post constructed from 14" diameter rain capes on both ends and runner rolls on the straight roof dimensions.

The existing kitchen wasn’t cutting it anymore. The homeowners designed and built this home about 20 years ago, but since then, their taste and needs changed. The outdated finishes felt outdated. There weren’t enough work areas. Some counterspace stations were just awkward due to the layout. Adjoining spaces around the kitchen were also in need of an update, but it was decided that the kitchen would undergo a transformation first.
Design Objectives
-Rework the overall layout (kitchen, laundry and butler’s pantry) to have a better flow and utilize the space better
-Incorporate materials with wow and pizzazz to reflect the homeowner’s style
-Design large work areas for cooking with two or more people at a time
-Provide seating at an island in addition to table seating
-Update surrounding spaces since the kitchen is open to the rest of the home
Design Challenges:
-Include a vast array of cooking appliances while having enough of cabinet storage
-Adjacent rooms need to feel updated and flow with new Kitchen
-Having multiple focal points with different materials but not have the space feel like a hodge podge
-Provide different task, accent and overall lighting to brighten up space
Design Solutions:
-The homeowner loves to cook and wanted to maximize her abilities. We incorporated a 48” rangetop with a griddle, a single oven, steam oven, microwave drawer and 15” induction cooktop next to a 48” Galley Ideal Workstation with two faucets. In order to have room for all of these appliances, the floor plan needed to accommodate more cabinetry. Both dining room entrances were closed off and the laundry room entrance were moved to the opposite end of the wall to allow two long walls for additional cabinets.
-The existing round columns throughout the first floor were outdated. To keep the architectural element of the columns, we wrapped the new columns to have a square shape with a flat panel on all four sides. Then, we painted them black (to tie in with the kitchen tops and curved hood surround) and added simple crown molding. For the flow of the space, closing up the odd corner that connected the laundry and dining room and relocating both room entrances allowed the space to actually feel larger and more continuous. --Adding the same square columns to the main dining room entrance, by the front door, also tied in the front of the house with the kitchen.
-The homeowner loves unique and bold materials. The main focal point of the kitchen is definitely the custom metal hood that incorporates two finishes and is set on a Lumix quartzite full-high back and side splashes. To make this area even more pronounced, a hearth-like drywall arch encloses the space. Once your eye moves off the hood, you start to notice the mirrored refrigerator panels, high gloss island cabinets, mirrored metal backsplash tile, delicate pendant island lights and the stunning island countertop material! There is a good mix of materials that make every space shine. The blacks, golds and pewter finishes help tie everything together.
-Lighting in a large kitchen is important. This space, besides getting a lot of natural light, needed lots of additional lighting due to the dark finishes. For overall lighting we have plenty of can lights in addition to lighting at the tops of the wall cabinets (that shine on the ceiling), undercabinet task lighting to make the tops sparkle and provide abundant lighting while prepping, pendant accent lighting over the island and a fandolier to add a little sparkle over the pub table. Voila!

M-S Pro Architects announce the completion of an indoor swimming pool in a state-of-the-art, single storey family home set in a picturesque location on the outskirts of Bratislava - one of Europe’s youngest capital cities. Kebony, a beautiful wood recommended by leading architects, was chosen to craft the ceiling of the swimming pool, which is designed to emulate rippling waves as well as for the terrace deck and structural beams.
Sustainability and a desire to recreate the close proximity often seen between wood and water in the natural environment were primary focuses in the design of this project. This led a requirement for a low maintenance wood, compatible humidity and with advanced durability, for the swimming pool ceiling. In addition, a high level of precision when cutting the wood was required in order to achieve the desired appearance of waves.
Supplied by Leading Market, Kebony was carefully selected for the pool ceiling, which consists of 490 lamellae of timber, due to its versatility, durability and environmental credentials. Kebony was also installed throughout the exterior of this property, both for the spacious outdoor terrace and the exterior and interior beams. One of the reasons to choose Kebony was the unified look of wood in all these different applications.
Developed in Norway, the patented Kebony technology uses an environmentally friendly process, which permanently enhances the properties of sustainable softwood with a bio-based liquid derived from agricultural crop waste. By polymerising the wood’s cell wall with furfuryl alcohol, the wood gains greatly improved durability and dimensional stability, giving it characteristics similar to those of tropical hardwood. In creating a wood with comparable properties to tropical hardwood that can be grown in a FSC certified, sustainably managed forest, the demand for tropical woods is reduced, allowing timber to once again be an important part of sustainable construction.
Tomáš Hubinský, Lead Architect at M-S Pro, commented: “From conception through to completion, the creation of this ceiling has been a real feat. Despite the challenges faced by such an intricate design, Kebony was the perfect material to convey our desired effect of waves rippling along the ceiling. We will continue to incorporate Kebony into our interior and exterior designs, with wood fast becoming the first choice material for all architects.”
Mette Valen, Sales Manager Norway at Kebony, explained: “The distinctive nature of this design cleverly portrays the capability of Kebony, demonstrating both the aesthetic and performance qualities of the product. We would be honoured to work with M-S Pro in the future and look forward to seeing how they utilise Kebony in their future projects.”

This gorgeous, remodeled bathroom in Midlothian began as an outdated space with a huge, garden tub that was never used. It is now a space that the homeowners can utilize to its full potential.
A long, double vanity with lots of storage replaced the existing single vanity. The new configuration of the bathroom allowed for the addition of a makeup vanity.
Underneath this weathered wood-look tile floor is a radiant heating system. We all know how cold tile can be to walk on with bare feet. The homeowner will be able to set the thermostat to any desired temperature which will not only heat up the tile but also the bathroom. During the colder months the radiant heating system can also be used to raise the temperature of the bathroom without effecting the entire home.
The beautiful tiled floor makes a smooth transition into the curbless shower enclosure. This is achieved by using a zero-entry shower pan, an ideal solution for those homeowners who want to age in place.

[Our Clients]
We were so excited to help these new homeowners re-envision their split-level diamond in the rough. There was so much potential in those walls, and we couldn’t wait to delve in and start transforming spaces. Our primary goal was to re-imagine the main level of the home and create an open flow between the space. So, we started by converting the existing single car garage into their living room (complete with a new fireplace) and opening up the kitchen to the rest of the level.
[Kitchen]
The original kitchen had been on the small side and cut-off from the rest of the home, but after we removed the coat closet, this kitchen opened up beautifully. Our plan was to create an open and light filled kitchen with a design that translated well to the other spaces in this home, and a layout that offered plenty of space for multiple cooks. We utilized clean white cabinets around the perimeter of the kitchen and popped the island with a spunky shade of blue. To add a real element of fun, we jazzed it up with the colorful escher tile at the backsplash and brought in accents of brass in the hardware and light fixtures to tie it all together. Through out this home we brought in warm wood accents and the kitchen was no exception, with its custom floating shelves and graceful waterfall butcher block counter at the island.
[Dining Room]
The dining room had once been the home’s living room, but we had other plans in mind. With its dramatic vaulted ceiling and new custom steel railing, this room was just screaming for a dramatic light fixture and a large table to welcome one-and-all.
[Living Room]
We converted the original garage into a lovely little living room with a cozy fireplace. There is plenty of new storage in this space (that ties in with the kitchen finishes), but the real gem is the reading nook with two of the most comfortable armchairs you’ve ever sat in.
[Master Suite]
This home didn’t originally have a master suite, so we decided to convert one of the bedrooms and create a charming suite that you’d never want to leave. The master bathroom aesthetic quickly became all about the textures. With a sultry black hex on the floor and a dimensional geometric tile on the walls we set the stage for a calm space. The warm walnut vanity and touches of brass cozy up the space and relate with the feel of the rest of the home. We continued the warm wood touches into the master bedroom, but went for a rich accent wall that elevated the sophistication level and sets this space apart.
[Hall Bathroom]
The floor tile in this bathroom still makes our hearts skip a beat. We designed the rest of the space to be a clean and bright white, and really let the lovely blue of the floor tile pop. The walnut vanity cabinet (complete with hairpin legs) adds a lovely level of warmth to this bathroom, and the black and brass accents add the sophisticated touch we were looking for.
[Office]
We loved the original built-ins in this space, and knew they needed to always be a part of this house, but these 60-year-old beauties definitely needed a little help. We cleaned up the cabinets and brass hardware, switched out the formica counter for a new quartz top, and painted wall a cheery accent color to liven it up a bit. And voila! We have an office that is the envy of the neighborhood.

In recent years, shiplap installments have been popular on HGTV, other design networks, and in magazines. Shiplap has become a desired focal feature in homes to achieve a shabby chic, cottage-like aesthetic. When we were approached by the owners of this bathroom we couldn’t have been more excited to help them achieve the effect that they were dreaming of.
Our favorite features of this bathroom are:
1. The floor to ceiling shiplap walls are beautiful and have completely converted the space
2. The innovative design of the tub deck showcases Stoneunlimited’s ability to utilize Waypoint cabinets in various ways to achieve sophisticated detail.
3. The design of the tile in the shower in differing sizes, textures and chair rail detail make the white on white tile appealing to the eye and emphasizes the farmhouse shabby-chic feel.
If you can imagine a warm and cozy bathroom or kitchen with the beauty of shiplap, Stoneunlimited Kitchen and Bath can help you achieve your dream of having a farmhouse inspired space too!
