An original 1930’s English Tudor with only 2 bedrooms and 1 bath spanning about 1730 sq.ft. was purchased by a family with 2 amazing young kids, we saw the potential of this property to become a wonderful nest for the family to grow. The plan was to reach a 2550 sq. ft. home with 4 bedroom and 4 baths spanning over 2 stories. With continuation of the exiting architectural style of the existing home. A large 1000sq. ft. addition was constructed at the back portion of the house to include the expended master bedroom and a second-floor guest suite with a large observation balcony overlooking the mountains of Angeles Forest. Handle-less kitchen combining melamine wood finish doors, Schmidt Canyon, and micron doors in blue, Schmidt Nordic Blue. The handles are stainless steel strips just under the worktop functioning as grip handle, Schmidt Eolis range. The same is for the tall units, but in vertical, Schmidt Vertica range. To finish the look the quartz worktop in white brings a cooler feeling to the kitchen, as well as more lighting. Instead of splash-back the customer opted for an up-stand in the same material as the worktop and tiles in blue behind the hob. The appliances chosen include American Full Fridge Freezer with water dispenser, built in double oven and single oven, induction hob and wall extractor in stainless steel. The presence of stainless steel matches between appliances, hand grip handles and the under-mounted sink and tap. Also the kick-board or plinth is 10 cm high (allowing more storage space and maximisation of your kitchen storage) matches the handle in stainless steel. For lighting the customer chose ceiling spot lights and under wall unit lighting. To finish the look the customer went for white walls, and ceramic tiling for the floor. The ceramic tiling in a light brown with a touch of grey works as an intermediary between the kitchen and the wooden doors. In terms of cabinets and storage, the kitchen has two tall larder units with internal drawers by the fridge, storage above the fridge and ovens, drawers under the ovens and hob, as well as three extra set of drawers. The dishwasher unit is by the sink, and the bins are in the sink unit, Schmidt Kitchens Dorking offers different options for the sink unit and bins. The clients owned the house next door and were contemplating a substantial remodel to their 110 year old Crafstman when the neighbor to the south put their old Craftsman home up for sale - it was in much more need of TLC so my clients purchased this house and we removed the 2nd floor gable/attic space and gutted the first floor and basements. The home was re-imagined with a Scandanavian inspired contemporary Northwest style, but keeping the covered porch common to the neighborhood's Craftsman homes. A 2nd floor covered porch takes advantage of the views across Ballard and to the Olympic Peninsula and gorgeous Northwest sunsets. The entry is open to the 2nd floor and features a steel and wood stair. The living space is open to the dining room with a bay bump out which flows into the kitchen featuring an island. The kitchen opens to a covered back patio; a raised parking pad is accessed from the alley. An exercise room (guest room) and 3/4 bath finish out the main floor. The basement is set up with two bedrooms and a full bath with space for a future kitchenette and private back entry to be used as an ADU. This family of four love to entertain and having friends and family over. Their 1970 Rambler was getting cramped after their two daughters moved back and that was their cry for help. They also wanted to have two door garages added into their home. They had a very modern theme in mind for both exterior and interior of their project. The project started as excavating and clearing 7-9 feet of dirt allowing the driveway and new garage space. All utilities were relocated to clear area. Above this new garage space, there was the home for brand new dream kitchen for them. Trading their 10’x7′ galley kitchen with this 13’x30′ gourmet kitchen with 48″ stark blue professional gas range, a 5’x14′ center island equipped with prep sink, wine cooler, ice maker, microwave and lots of storage space. Front and back windows, 13′ cathedral ceiling offers lots of daylight and sparks up this beautiful kitchen. Tall Espresso cabinetry complimented with contrasting island, and breathtaking stone counter tops stands off through large opening from old home to new kitchen. The big load bearing wall and old kitchen was removed and opened up old home to new kitchen, all partition walls between kitchen, dining and living room were gone and given a total open floor plan. Replacing old carpet steps and wood rails with dark wood and cable yarn railing system bringing this home into new era. Entire first floor was now covered with wide plank exotic wood floors and a large scale porcelain tiles in kitchen floor. The entire exterior was replaced with cement board red planks siding and contrasting flat panel of grey boards bordered in with chrome trim. New front door, new Architectural shingles spruced up into 21st century home that they desired. A wide flat Mahogany with vertical glass garage doors with very modern looking exterior lights made this home stand tall in this neighborhood. We used glass backsplash tiles and pendent lights to create a upscale and very different look for this project. Furnished with ductless heating system and heated floors giving this family high level of comfort to through endless parties.
