Our busy lawyer couple, with three close-knit children, had recently purchased a home that was modern on the outside, but dated on the inside. They loved the feel, but knew it needed a major overhaul. Being incredibly busy and having never taken on a renovation of this scale, they knew they needed help to make this space their own. Upon a previous client referral, they called on Pulp to make their dreams a reality. Then ensued a down to the studs renovation, moving walls and some stairs, resulting in dramatic results. Beth and Carolina layered in warmth and style throughout, striking a hard-to-achieve balance of livable and contemporary. The result is a well-lived in and stylish home designed for every member of the family, where memories are made daily.

Cummings Architects transformed this beautiful oceanfront property on Eastern Point. A bland home with flat facade from the eighties was torn down to the studs to build this elegant shingle-style home with swooping gables and intricate window details. The main living spaces and bedrooms all have sprawling ocean views. This older couple residing in a golf course community wanted to expand their living space and finish up their unfinished basement for entertainment purposes and more. Their wish list included: exercise room, full scale movie theater, fireplace area, guest bedroom, full size master bath suite style, full bar area, entertainment and pool table area, and tray ceiling. After major concrete breaking and running ground plumbing, we used a dead corner of basement near staircase to tuck in bar area. A dual entrance bathroom from guest bedroom and main entertainment area was placed on far wall to create a large uninterrupted main floor area. A custom barn door for closet gives extra floor space to guest bedroom. New movie theater room with multi-level seating, sound panel walls, two rows of recliner seating, 120-inch screen, state of art A/V system, custom pattern carpeting, surround sound & in-speakers, custom molding and trim with fluted columns, custom mahogany theater doors. The bar area includes copper panel ceiling and rope lighting inside tray area, wrapped around cherry cabinets and dark granite top, plenty of stools and decorated with glass backsplash and listed glass cabinets. The main seating area includes a linear fireplace, covered with floor to ceiling ledger stone and an embedded television above it. The new exercise room with two French doors, full mirror walls, a couple storage closets, and rubber floors provide a fully equipped home gym. The unused space under staircase now includes a hidden bookcase for storage and A/V equipment. New bathroom includes fully equipped body sprays, large corner shower, double vanities, and lots of other amenities. Carefully selected trim work, crown molding, tray ceiling, wainscoting, wide plank engineered flooring, matching stairs, and railing, makes this basement remodel the jewel of this community.

A wood burning fire in the sitting area creates a toasty corner, even in an open plan room. A multi use space for entertaining and family life this project is still a hit, and a favourite of ours and the public. The space can be opened up to bring the outside, in. By opening up the huge sliding glazed doors onto the patio you create an even larger space where life can spill out into the garden, and equally lets nature into the home with a breath of fresh air. The pendant lights above the table from John Lewis – William Bottle Glass Pendants from the Croft collection £130 each. These are such simple lights with a hint of detail and a slightly industrial feel ties in beautifully with the metal star table lamp on the bespoke side table.

This classically styled traditional kitchen with beaded inset cabinetry and Shaker doors compliments the beauty of the 1904 Colonial Revival home where it resides. The mix of white and cadet blue painted cabinetry, along with black and brass accents adds richness and grandeur to the space. The range alcove, across from the large furniture style work island with prep sink, is reminiscent of a grand British manor house. The tray ceiling takes advantage of the home’s original taller ceilings and highlights the central island. The former kitchen, a combination of the original corner room and two porches, has been completely reconfigured by this Morris County New Jersey kitchen and bath designer who specializes in remodeling challenging spaces. With adjacent neighbors within a fairly dense section of Paradise Valley, Arizona, C.P. Drewett sought to provide a tranquil retreat for a new-to-the-Valley surgeon and his family who were seeking the modernism they loved though had never lived in. With a goal of consuming all possible site lines and views while maintaining autonomy, a portion of the house — including the entry, office, and master bedroom wing — is subterranean. This subterranean nature of the home provides interior grandeur for guests but offers a welcoming and humble approach, fully satisfying the clients requests. While the lot has an east-west orientation, the home was designed to capture mainly north and south light which is more desirable and soothing. The architecture’s interior loftiness is created with overlapping, undulating planes of plaster, glass, and steel. The woven nature of horizontal planes throughout the living spaces provides an uplifting sense, inviting a symphony of light to enter the space. The more voluminous public spaces are comprised of stone-clad massing elements which convert into a desert pavilion embracing the outdoor spaces. Every room opens to exterior spaces providing a dramatic embrace of home to natural environment. Grand Award winner for Best Interior Design of a Custom Home The material palette began with a rich, tonal, large-format Quartzite stone cladding. The stone’s tones gaveforth the rest of the material palette including a champagne-colored metal fascia, a tonal stucco system, and ceilings clad with hemlock, a tight-grained but softer wood that was tonally perfect with the rest of the materials. The interior case goods and wood-wrapped openings further contribute to the tonal harmony of architecture and materials. Grand Award Winner for Best Indoor Outdoor Lifestyle for a Home This award-winning project was recognized at the 2020 Gold Nugget Awards with two Grand Awards, one for Best Indoor/Outdoor Lifestyle for a Home, and another for Best Interior Design of a One of a Kind or Custom Home. At the 2020 Design Excellence Awards and Gala presented by ASID AZ North, Ownby Design received five awards for Tonal Harmony. The project was recognized for 1st place – Bathroom; 3rd place – Furniture; 1st place – Kitchen; 1st place – Outdoor Living; and 2nd place – Residence over 6,000 square ft. Congratulations to Claire Ownby, Kalysha Manzo, and the entire Ownby Design team. Tonal Harmony was also featured on the cover of the July/August 2020 issue of Luxe Interiors + Design and received a 14-page editorial feature entitled “A Place in the Sun” within the magazine.

Designing a whole home remodel for a client’s second home was an exciting opportunity to create a space that felt both welcoming and timeless. The clients wanted a space that felt light, bright, and timeless. We focused on an open-concept layout, maximizing natural light and incorporating soft, neutral tones that complemented the desert landscape. The main showstopper of the home was the kitchen, which the family considered the heart of the home. Featuring high-end finishes, the kitchen became a space for both cooking and gathering, designed for both functionality and elegance. Thoughtful touches, such as custom cabinetry, integrated appliances, and custom hood, helped elevate the entire space, making it a true focal point. With a thoughtful blend of modern design and classic touches, the remodel was tailored to ensure the space could grow with the family and become a place they would cherish and enjoy for years to come.

Upon entering this outdoor space, the atmosphere of a resort surrounds you and the raised spa makes for a perfect vantage point for taking it all in. The linear fire feature is another stunning and memorable element of this space. Ryan Hughes' custom design beautifully beckons family and friends to relax and enjoy life in the resort-like backyard. From beautiful Travertine tile surfaces, this space produces a major “wow” moment and brings the modern vibe and tranquil beauty that was desired in this northern Virginia backyard.

Hired mid demolition, Regan Baker Design Inc. partnered with the first-time home owners and construction team to help bring this two-bedroom two-bath condo some classic casual character. Cabinetry design, finish selection, furniture and accessories were all designed and implemented within a 6-month period. To add interest in the living room RBD added white oak paneling with a v-groove to the ceiling and clad the fireplace in a terra cotta tile. The laundry room may be one of the most functional spaces in the house, but that didn’t stop us from treating it like a design opportunity. In fact, we believe the most used spaces deserve the most love—and this one delivers. A showstopping patterned tile from Haus Tile anchors the room with playful sophistication, echoing the circular motifs found throughout the home. Above, deep green Tedd Wood cabinetry offers ample storage, finished with oversized Atlas Dot knobs in brass that feel as chic as they are substantial. We incorporated thoughtful additions like a hanging rod from Signature Hardware for air-drying clothes, a long quartz work surface in Cambria Inverness Gold for folding and sorting, and an ultra-durable Blanco Silgranit sink paired with a Kingston Brass wall-mounted faucet to keep things clean and stylish. Above, glass ribbed lights from West Elm add just the right amount of sparkle.

Richard Mandelkorn A newly connected hallway leading to the master suite had the added benefit of a new laundry closet squeezed in; the original home had a cramped closet in the kitchen downstairs. The space was made efficient with a countertop for folding, a hanging drying rack and cabinet for storage. All is concealed by a traditional barn door, and lit by a new expansive window opposite.

A design for a busy, active family longing for order and a central place for the family to gather. We utilized every inch of this room from floor to ceiling to give custom cabinetry that would completely expand their kitchen storage. Directly off the kitchen overlooks their dining space, with beautiful brown leather stools detailed with exposed nail heads and white wood. Fresh colors of bright blue and yellow liven their dining area. The kitchen & dining space is completely rejuvenated as these crisp whites and colorful details breath life into this family hub. We further fulfilled our ambition of maximum storage in our design of this client’s mudroom and laundry room. We completely transformed these areas with our millwork and cabinet designs allowing for the best amount of storage in a well-organized entry.
