Our poster project for The Three P's, this small midcentury home south of campus has great bones but lacked vibrancy - a je ne sais quoi that the clients were searching to savoir once and for all. SYI worked with them to nail down a design direction and furniture plan, and they decided to invest in the big-impact items first: built-ins and lighting and a fresh paint job that included a beautiful deep blue-green line around the windows. The vintage rug was an Etsy score at an awesome price, but only after the client spent months scouring options and sources online that matched the vision and dimensions of the plan. A good year later, the West Elm sofa went on sale, so the client took advantage; some time after that, they painted the kitchen, created the drop zone / bench area, and rounded out the room with occasional tables and accessories. Their lesson: in patience, and details, there is beauty.

Less is more in this narrow kitchen. With a clean color palette, the open shelves (brilliantly built by the client) add an industrial style to a modernized farmhouse. The cherry cabinets give a warmth and vibrancy to the space, which reminds us of all of the beautiful Redwood trees on the mountains in the view from the sink.

With a restrained hand, out interior designer set about bringing a new life in our clients petite apartment while also introducing easy to maintain, durable surfaces and furnishings as they love to entertain and have a lively St. Bernard. And as they had an extensive book collection and a single three-foot wide closet, the key challenge here was to make the best use of the entire space while injecting it with charming whimsy.
After falling in love with our designer’s presentation, our clients went for a complete apartment overhaul and started from scratch. Since the space is small, our designer Anna S. wanted to create an urgent sense of vibrancy without coming off as too heavy handed. So she worked in expressive colors and decorative extras in small doses for subtle impact.
Starting the project by changing several of the unit’s light fixtures for brighter, more minimal styles, Anna surveyed the apartment room to room to devise clever storage solutions that are easy on the eye.
As they have friends over often, Anna created a warm and inviting living room boasting a slightly feminine take on mid-century modern layered with colorful pillows, patterned rugs, and eclectic art that doesn’t take over the apartment.
In the kitchen, she added a strong yet gender neutral burlap wallpaper, floating wooden shelves, and new plumbing fixtures that were more sophisticated than the original, standard ones in place.
However, our favorite part of the apartment is the moody, statement-making foyer. Though it was a long and narrow barely used, neglected space, Anna brought in wallpaper from Tempaper that features a matte black background covered with gold bird and floral illustrations, and added a long row of black glass cabinets and several large gold mirrors for an added sense of glamorous drama and an extra amount of storage space to boot.

A substantial house in one of the Peninsula’s most desirable neighborhoods, this residence was home to a busy family of five looking to design spaces that welcomed their large extended family and friends. For the living room, we were tasked with creating an architectural, elegant space to seat fifteen. A den/library highlights the homeowner’s passion for green. In the powder room, we selected green and navy grasscloth wallpaper for a burst of vibrancy.

The Pella Vibrancy Collection offers six new color options for your entry door. Choose Lively Blue — shown on an Architect Series® 6 panel smooth solid door.

A bright and cheery lake house we recently designed! We created a cozy space for these clients using a soft sand color palette, layered with fun colors and patterns. We incorporated elements of nature through the lighting, window treatments, and fireplace for a warming effect while still promoting a vibrancy through the trendy, colorful decor.
Since this home is located on a lake, we made sure to use weatherproof textiles so their look will continue to last for years to come.
Home located in South Haven, Michigan. Designed by Bayberry Cottage who also serve Kalamazoo, Saugatuck, St Joseph, and Holland, Michigan.

At the Southwest Boulder & Stone main headquarters, we wanted to create a beautiful space that requires little to no maintenance and showcases the possibilities of combining different rocks and plants. Laura Eubanks chose the rocks from our yard and provided the succulents and design, adding a bit of Copper Reflective ½" fire glass on top of the criva to add interest to the project. Lifeguard Wet Look sealer was used to lock the criva and fire glass in place, adding vibrancy and ensuring a long-lasting installation.

This home was redesigned to reflect the homeowners' personalities through intentional and bold design choices, resulting in a visually appealing and powerfully expressive environment.
Elegance meets vibrancy in this living room design, featuring a soothing neutral palette and a gracefully curved sofa. Two striking orange chairs provide a bold pop of color, while a captivating fireplace and exquisite artwork add a touch of sophistication to this harmonious space.

The West project transformed this backyard space into a natural urban oasis with a unique waterfall feature, outdoor living space, outdoor kitchen, and bar area. A highlight of this project was the fire feature that we surrounded with carefully chosen plants that accentuate the vibrancy of the fire. A light pool bottom made the pool water look turquoise, like the beautiful beaches south of Jacksonville, Florida.

The original bathroom on the main floor had an odd Jack-and-Jill layout with two toilets, two vanities and only a single tub/shower (in vintage mint green, no less). With some creative modifications to existing walls and the removal of a small linen closet, we were able to divide the space into two functional bathrooms – one of them now a true en suite master.
In the master bathroom we chose a soothing palette of warm grays – the geometric floor tile was laid in a random pattern adding to the modern minimalist style. The slab front vanity has a mid-century vibe and feels at place in the home. Storage space is always at a premium in smaller bathrooms so we made sure there was ample countertop space and an abundance of drawers in the vanity. While calming grays were welcome in the bathroom, a saturated pop of color adds vibrancy to the master bedroom and creates a vibrant backdrop for furnishings.

This 10,000sf Mediterranean home boasts a large covered outdoor entertaining area with fireplace. Classic clean-line furniture was selected for these down-to-earth home owners. A primarily neutral color scheme was used; to add some vibrancy, a splash of blue was used throughout.

Our techy client needed a quiet workspace where he can work, read, and relax. We came up with a colorful, inviting, and modern design that everybody loves. We’ve introduced geometric pattern on the rug that compliments the geometry on the bookshelves. The color of the couch picks up the reds from the rug perfectly, and the steel blue wall is the perfect backdrop to connect all the elements in the room. This is how a modern workspace should look like.
