Boston's Beacon Hill neighborhood is decidedly Victorian to the casual observer. However, while this young family appreciates the Beacon Hill aesthetic, they preferred a more updated, contemporary interior to fit their urban lifestyle. We created living spaces with elements that both respected the historic architecture and gave the homeowners the modern, clean-lines they desired. Our solutions incorporated traditional forms using materials in fresh and modern ways.

Most homeowners with those tiny coal fireplaces think there's nothing that will fit the size and style of their fireplaces, but Victorian Fireplace Shop has exactly what you've been looking for! The style of the President coal effect gas insert not only fits this vintage Victorian home, but can heat up to 1000 sq. ft. or so.

The fireplace in this 19th century farmhouse has been brought back to use with the addition of a Valor Legend G3 gas insert. To keep the brick arch visible, especially since its design is mirrored in the custom mantel, we cut the trim panels to fit the arch and recessed them into the opening. This homeowner had a G3 installed in a different fireplace a couple of years earlier and knew it was the perfect answer for this fireplace, too.

The fireplaces in this historic home were caving in, the hearth was gone and the mantels left in the home were not original. We fabricated custom metal trims (painted white to match the mantel), installed slate hearths for a historic look and installed two Valor Windsor gas inserts. The fireplaces look like they've always been there and are helping heat this great old home.
