This young girl's bathroom was designed to stay current as the girl ages with the use of neutral colors. The walls are a beautiful chenille limestone and the glass mosaic floor and accent border add reflective light and interest. There are speakers in the ceiling for music in coordination with the whole house Crestron automated system and iPads. These homeowners came to us to renovate a number of areas of their home. In their formal powder bath they wanted a sophisticated polished room that was elegant and custom in design. The formal powder was designed around stunning marble and gold wall tile with a custom starburst layout coming from behind the center of the birds nest round brass mirror. A white floating quartz countertop houses a vessel bowl sink and vessel bowl height faucet in polished nickel, wood panel and molding’s were painted black with a gold leaf detail which carried over to the ceiling for the WOW.

This home was a complete gut, so it got a major face-lift in each room. In the powder and hall baths, we decided to try to make a huge impact in these smaller spaces, and so guests get a sense of "wow" when they need to wash up! Powder Bath: The freestanding sink basin is from Stone Forest, Harbor Basin with Carrara Marble and the console base is Palmer Industries Jamestown in satin brass with a glass shelf. The faucet is from Newport Brass and is their wall mount Jacobean in satin brass. With the small space, we installed the Toto Eco Supreme One-Piece round bowl, which was a huge floor space saver. Accessories are from the Newport Brass Aylesbury collection. Hall Bath: The vanity and floating shelves are from WW Woods Shiloh Cabinetry, Poplar wood with their Cadet stain which is a gorgeous blue-hued gray. Plumbing products - the faucet and shower fixtures - are from the Brizo Rook collection in chrome, with accessories to match. The commode is a Toto Drake II 2-piece. Toto was also used for the sink, which sits in a Caesarstone Pure White quartz countertop.

A wall of tall cabinets was incorporated into the master bathroom space so the closet and bathroom could be one open area. On this wall, long hanging was incorporated above tilt down hampers and short hang was incorporated in to the other tall cabinets. On the perpendicular wall a full length mirror was incorporated with matching frame stock.

A personal retreat where the homeowners could escape and relax was desired. Large scale porcelain heated tile, sapele wood for a natural element and layering of lighting were critical to make each area relaxing and spa like. A wood wall and textured tile feature creates a custom backdrop for the soaking freestanding bath. Backlit led vanity mirrors highlight the soft green mosaic tile and the pretty vessel sinks and wall mounted faucets. A multi function shower adds to the options for a spa like experience with a seat to relax as needed. A towel warmer is a luxury feature for after a soothing shower or bath. The master closet connects so the homeowners have easy access to the dressing area, and custom cabinets continue into this space for a cohesive overall feel.

The bath has no natural light. To create a sense of spatial depth and layering of light, 3 L-shaped panels were positioned throughout the room. One central panel joins the back wall with the ceiling. Another panel links two walls in the back corner of the tub. The third panel carries the mirror at the vanity. Each panel is outlined with waterproof LED strips recessed behind its edge. Diffuse light emanates from behind the panels and they appearance to float. The face of each panel is divided into two surfaces striking a datum line at 74 inches above the floor. The vanity panel has mirror on the lower portion and flat white paint above. The tub and middle panels are semi-gloss grey colored paint below and white flat paint above. The central panel is a nod to the Ellsworth Kelly painting at the Pulitzer Arts Foundation in St Louis. The same matte finish tile is used on the floor and walls. All exposed tile edges were finished with aluminum angles. The same tile floor was used in the owner’s closet featuring lacquered cabinets and a back-lit vanity panel.
