Iron Ore is one of a group of tiles inspired by weathered steel. Its blend of deep ochre and chocolate brown tones perfectly captures the effect of the original metal, which is transformed over time by the natural elements to create dramatic patterning. The wide bevels of Da Vinci emphasize the rectangular outline of these tiles as the light falls across them. Grout strips can be added to introduce a more traditional tile look with dark colored strips adding subtle separation or light colored strips adding contrast.

View of the color-matched cassette hardware which conceals the shade fabric: The patio at this private residence in Mahwah NJ faces west, and during the summer months, the heat and glare from the sun is overwhelming; making this beautiful outdoor retreat unbearable. Motorized exterior solar shades were installed on the fascia of the overhang to reduce the harmful effects of the sun. The goals were to create a comfortable living space, reduce the glare, heat and UV, and reduce flying insects and inclement weather when in use. A Charcoal colored fabric was chosen for this roller shade as retaining the view was one of the priorities. The shade cloth selected blocks 95% of glare, but still allows the an unobstructed view of the pool for safety, and keeps the views of the Ramapo River and beautifully landscaped property. The amount of coverage and openness of the fabric drastically reduces insects and inclement weather, and cable guide rails were chosen to keep the shade fabric from billowing in the wind. Due to their small footprint, cable guides are more aesthetically pleasing versus aluminum rails, zip rails or concealed edge options which were available, but not selected for this application. The Somfy motorization allows for push-button operation, and was also tied into an existing smart-home automation system which allows the client to control the product remotely. An added benefit of this automation feature allows the client to save on cooling related air conditioning costs. The combination of 95% UV blockage and dark colored fabric gives these exterior solar shades an 87% Solar Heat Gain Coefficient, meaning that these solar screen shades will dramatically reduce the amount of UV and heat penetrating the windows of the home. The goal was to create a stylish sanctuary in your own backyard! This reasoning spurred the inspiration for the backyard restyle at Project GC, which saw Ariel and Robert furnishing and styling their outdoor space on a budget so they could take advantage of the weather and spend more time outside while renovating the inside of their home. Our goal was to design with the great outdoors in mind by selecting furnishings that could withstand the weather and could remain outside throughout the seasons. We wanted to be budget conscious and therefor choose everything from Target. We intentionally chose furniture that was Target to meet our budget constraints but we also wanted to show that if you can only shop from one store, you can mix and match what they have to offer to create a one of a kind space. The natural whicker table and chairs are durable, lightweight and create a relaxed tropical vibe. The table is anchored to a black and white rug while providing a touch of modernism. Tropical plants were layered into the space in a variety of pots of different scales and textures. Colored was infused into the space with throw pillows and blankets that can easily be changed out to match the season. Finally, we created mood lighting with strung lights and lanterns of different scales that could remain outside. Voila – an outdoor space we could relax in!

These Reynolds Mountain homeowners were looking for a remodel that would offer enhanced enjoyment of their stunning backyard views, along with a laundry room expansion and upgrade. The Hands of Sean Perry Co. built a new, structurally improved deck using long-wearing Azek decking in a Herringbone pattern, as well as a cable railing system with an Ipe wood top. Along the railing, the team installed custom beverage holders for spill-proof entertaining. For the outdoor kitchen, they installed a Fibealum All-Weather cabinet with custom countertop and backsplash and a new set-in gas grill. On nice days, the homeowners can now enjoy the Asheville atmosphere from inside, with a new set of Phantom Screens that slide out of sight when not in use. The crew also expanded the homeowners’ laundry room, adding in a sink, new cabinetry, custom countertops and backsplash and a laundry rod. More practical renovations to the home included an improvement of the home’s energy efficiency and comfort by replacing and upgrading insulation, ventilation baffles, air sealing penetrations and replacing worn weather stripping.

Add transitional flair to your patio or deck with the Kingsley-Bate St. Bart's 5-Piece Sofa Set. Products making their television debut in this project were Anthology Woods Northwest Blend (a naturally weathered wood installed on a section of the ceiling, unfinished) and the extremely hard & durable Left Coast White Oak, a unique species growing only in a narrow strip of Oregon and bit in California & Washington (installed for the flooring, finished with Rubio Monocoat White natural oil). The homeowners were able to easily apply the finish themselves prior to installing the floor, and the zero VOC nature of the oil insured it was safe to move right in! The White tint to the oil gives a subtle white-washed look to the floors while maintaining a natural look and a supple feel underfoot. The couple participating in the episode loved their floor so much they decided to add more, installing it in their master bedroom, as well! The rich character of this natural Oak in a flat sawn (the old "European" way to cut Oak) wood product adds a timeless element & warmth to the feel of the space. Looking closely at the grain, you'll see cathedral patterns in many boards, along with a great mix of flat grain with rift areas as well. Finishing out the details of the room, the Bath Crashers team added natural carerra marble in the shower with tones of white & gray, and apron-front vanity sinks for extra charm.
