Entryway - mid-sized transitional dark wood floor entryway idea in DC Metro with blue walls and a black front door

A thoughtful collaboration brought this getaway home to realization. It started with our client’s desire to create a special gift to themselves, in the form of a retreat. We worked with a special team of design and construction experts to create a welcoming waterfront cottage to the family and all those who visit. Capturing views of the water, the home is comprised of curated spaces to gather, both inside and out, for our clients and their family and friends to enjoy.

Inspiration for a large transitional master carpeted and tray ceiling bedroom remodel in San Francisco with beige walls

This project encompasses the renovation of two aging metal warehouses located on an acre just North of the 610 loop. The larger warehouse, previously an auto body shop, measures 6000 square feet and will contain a residence, art studio, and garage. A light well puncturing the middle of the main residence brightens the core of the deep building. The over-sized roof opening washes light down three masonry walls that define the light well and divide the public and private realms of the residence. The interior of the light well is conceived as a serene place of reflection while providing ample natural light into the Master Bedroom. Large windows infill the previous garage door openings and are shaded by a generous steel canopy as well as a new evergreen tree court to the west. Challenge: Create a great room that has defined spaces. Response: With ceilings of varying heights and one floor-to-ceiling cabinet in the kitchen, the room has well defined areas for kitchen, dining and living areas. This Palo Alto Contemporary great room. has 21' long multi-slide patio door that extends the length of the room, opening to an expansive deck. The upper level of this gorgeous Trex deck is the central entertaining and dining space and includes a beautiful concrete fire table and a custom cedar bench that floats over the deck. The dining space is defined by the stunning, cantilevered, aluminum pergola above and cable railing along the edge of the deck. Adjacent to the pergola is a covered grill and prep space. Light brown custom cedar screen walls provide privacy along the landscaped terrace and compliment the warm hues of the decking. Clean, modern light fixtures are also present in the deck steps, along the deck perimeter, and throughout the landscape making the space well-defined in the evening as well as the daytime.

Nothing evokes the spirit of the ocean more than unobstructed cliff side views of the Pacific and nautical décor. This custom home was built to entertain guests who can’t help but enjoy the pleasures of sunny days and the warmth and light of the unique fire wall into the night.

A new contemporary kitchen for a family that loves to cook. The owners ' European preferences lead to the selection of the German made cabinets by Bulthaup. The crisp cabinet styling and sophisticated engineering allowed for a clean, minimal style. White cabinets and backsplash defined the walls. Darker cabinets and appliances defined areas of focus. Folding exterior doors enabled the entire corner to open to the deck and rear yard. Remote controlled screens lower from the ceiling to create a screened breakfast area. DLux Images
