We transformed an awkward bowling alley into an elegant and gracious kitchen that works for a couple or a grand occasion. The high ceilings are highlighted by an exquisite and silent hood by Ventahood set on a wall of marble mosaic. The lighting helps to define the space while not impeding sight lines. The Peninsula offers casual dining and a staging place for dessert/appetizers out of the work zone.

Floating shelves with a back that just grabs the eye takes this kitchen to another level. The clients are thrilled with this huge difference from their original space.

The homeowners came to me looking for a way to upgrade their builder kitchen in every sense, improving aesthetics, function, storage, and usable counter space. The layout was expanded with the addition of a full secondary wall of cabinetry, bringing balance to the room while significantly increasing everyday function. A peninsula was introduced to extend the workspace, providing generous prep area along with integrated storage. A custom millwork detail carries the upper cabinetry through the existing bulkhead, allowing it to remain while creating a more cohesive, built-in look. A small desk area was also incorporated to support daily household tasks. Material selections were chosen to bring warmth and softness to the space, including a solid taupe quartz countertop paired with a glass and marble hexagon mosaic backsplash that adds subtle texture and light. The peninsula also provides a comfortable seating position, creating a place for connection during meal preparation. The result is a well considered kitchen that supports the rhythm of everyday living.

Pool parties and sports-watching are cherished activities for the family of this 1961 ranch home in San Jose’s Willow Glen neighborhood. As the design process evolved, the idea of the Ultimate Cocktail Bar emerged and developed into an integral component of the new bright kitchen.

Here is an example of an Eichler home remodel completed by Murphey Builders in 2019 located in Walnut Creek, CA. A modern twist with cork floors, quartz counters and a tasteful mix of walnut and dark blue kitchen cabinets. We were able to keep many of the original Eichler designs and highlight them with low voltage LED strip lighting emphasizing the v-rustic ceiling with large beams. The cork floor adds to the homes comfort by dampening sound, cushioning steps and insulating from the concrete slab underneath.
