This contemporary farmhouse is located on a scenic acreage in Greendale, BC. It features an open floor plan with room for hosting a large crowd, a large kitchen with double wall ovens, tons of counter space, a custom range hood and was designed to maximize natural light. Shed dormers with windows up high flood the living areas with daylight. The stairwells feature more windows to give them an open, airy feel, and custom black iron railings designed and crafted by a talented local blacksmith. The home is very energy efficient, featuring R32 ICF construction throughout, R60 spray foam in the roof, window coatings that minimize solar heat gain, an HRV system to ensure good air quality, and LED lighting throughout. This bold and beautifully layered kitchen is a masterclass in fearless design. Designer Barbara Glass brought together an unexpected mix of pattern, color, and texture to create a space that feels collected, joyful, and completely intentional. The Raw Urth Designs Aspen style range hood in Antique patina serves as a grounded anchor in an otherwise exuberant space. Its dark, handcrafted finish provides the perfect counterpoint to the richly patterned wallpaper, white cabinetry, and decorative tile backsplash that surround it. A green painted island, red leather barstools with brass detail, and a dramatic wrought iron globe chandelier complete the layered, maximalist aesthetic. This white kitchen is grounded by the dark espresso island. Carrara marble island with wine storage on the side create a beautiful contrast to the white cabinets with the silestone grey countertops and herringbone backsplash tile. This kithchen renovation included the removal of a load bearing wall to open it up and make it feel bright and airy.
