This Plum Island, Massachusetts coastal cottage kitchen features a bright galley-style layout with classic shaker cabinetry, white quartz countertops, and stainless steel appliances designed for both functionality and timeless coastal style. Emma Gerancher from Reico Kitchen & Bath in Charlottesville, VA, partnered with Luis Dorta of LED Construction to design a transitional kitchen featuring Masterpiece cabinetry. The kitchen includes the Barton door style in a Cottage finish for the perimeter and a custom Sherwin-Williams Mount Etna painted finish for the island. The space also features MSI W Calacatta Safyra countertops, along with a Frigidaire canopy hood and microwave. The client shared, “Gutting our old kitchen to reconfigure the space for better flow, workspace, and storage was a challenge. Emma listened to my needs and offered helpful tips and options, which made the process work. The layout followed the workflow, and my habits and style guided the final details. Reico gave me the options and confidence to trust the process, and the outcome is seamless and beautiful.” Emma explained, “This kitchen is one of my favorites. The homeowners wanted to replace the peninsula with a custom painted island in Sherwin-Williams Mount Etna, which paired well with the Cottage perimeter cabinets, Calacatta Safyra countertops, sea glass backsplash, and honey bronze hardware. This modern family medical center redefines the clinic experience by blending clinical efficiency with a warm, residential-inspired atmosphere. Designed to reduce anxiety and improve workflow, the building combines contemporary architecture, natural materials, and abundant daylight. Clean gabled forms, light cladding, warm wood accents, and a recessed entry create an approachable neighborhood presence. Inside, reception and waiting areas feel like a modern living space, with wood detailing, soft lighting, and a dedicated children’s corner. Exam rooms and support spaces are organized for privacy, durability, and efficiency. The result is a calm, human-centered healthcare environment that supports patient comfort and long-term operational performance.

While keeping the same size kitchen footprint, the layout got a fresh change! Gone was the awkward, dysfunctional island with the stove in the center and a non function seating area. Moving a few appliances around allowed for a better workflow and a proper prep space on the island.

This house built in the 1990s never had renovations done prior to this whole house remodel. Filled with vibrant wallpaper and shiny brass finishes so indicative of the time the house was in need of a major upgrade and refresh. The laundry room already had ample space and storage, but we tailored the storage for the family. An integrated shoe shelf allows for a clean space to store shoes in this no shoe household. A fold down, integrated ironing board provides functionality without crowding the space. The powder bath is the only bath on the first floor, so is a full bath, but functions as a powder bath 90% of the time. We wanted to keep the focus away from the shower and keep the fun of a powder bath. A custom window pane patterned etched glass shower allows the shower to stay in the background. In the master bath there was also ample space, but the design was in great need of an upgrade. With a decked-in tub and shower that you had to step up and then down into, the space needed a better flow and easier access. A freestanding tub allowed all of the decking to be removed and gave space for a larger, more luxurious shower. A huge linen storage with bench that double as a suitcase stand finishes out the space nicely. The room was given a clean, modern farmhouse feel to really freshen up the space. The focus of this kitchen was to open up the workflow, creating a space for the family to work comfortably while also creating a beautiful and inspiring space. Placing a large refrigerator at the edge of the kitchen, adding a beverage refrigerator, using a Galley Workstation and having the island at a slightly lower height makes it highly functional for the whole family. It is rare to achieve a long line of symmetry, but with a feature wall created around the range top we were able to do so. We created an antique armoire feel with the panel ready refrigerator and custom panel design above. A mixture of hardware was used, the gray stained hickory cabinets were paired with matte black hardware, while the designer white cabinets were paired with brass hardware. A very custom refrigerator cabinet was created that emphasized the armoire feel. A long wall of 9” deep tall cabinets created a very beautiful as well as highly functional pantry space.

This 2022 project was a fully custom mix and writing suite designed for multi-Grammy and Dove Award–winning producer and songwriter Kyle Lee. The goal was to create an environment that mirrors his creative workflow—quiet, natural, highly accurate, and intentionally crafted for long sessions of collaboration and focused work. The layout is compact but feels open thanks to high ceilings, soft daylight from the surrounding windows, and a palette of warm textures and natural materials. The room maintains a clean, grounded aesthetic without sacrificing technical performance, balancing style and acoustical precision in a way that supports both creativity and accuracy. Acoustic isolation was a core priority. The suite is fully separated from the rest of the home using sound-reducing wall assemblies, custom bass management including a full soft-ceiling trap and a false rear wall trap, and full-lite doors designed for controlled leakage. The result is a private, self-contained environment that integrates seamlessly with the home’s flow yet transforms into a focused creative space the moment the doors close. Monitoring was built around Kyle’s preferred ATC SCM45A loudspeakers, paired with Dynaudio subwoofers and calibrated specifically to the room’s frequency response. Every treatment, material, and speaker position was selected to ensure what Kyle hears while mixing precisely translates to the final master. The finished suite delivers an effortless feel with professional-grade performance—an inspiring, accurate, and dependable space built to support Kyle’s work at the highest level.

This Clarks Hill farmhouse kitchen was worn-out and awkwardly closed off from the dining space. The homeowner wanted new appliances and needed the paneling to be removed. Riverside Construction updated the design by creating an island with seating for two. We also opened up the space to the dining room by removing a wall. The space was brightened up using white shaker style cabinets with clean lines and hi-definition laminate counter tops. Cork flooring was added to create a nice contrast. Additionally, Riverside moved the range from the closed off wall to the left leg of the kitchen, improving the workflow in the kitchen. School house lights and beaded paneling on the island were added to bring back the charm of the early 1900’s.

This stair designed by KITE Architects was constructed to unify two floors of a rapidly expanding tech company, in the heart of downtown Providence, Rhode Island. It is constructed of painted steel stringers, tubing and plate, and features industrial vulcanized rubber treads and stainless cable railings. Concentric fabricated and installed this stair from start to finish, working alongside MPM properties, ensuring that there was no disruption to the daily workflow of the tech company that remained in residence throughout the renovation.

An open floor plan kitchen renovation essentially merges your kitchen area with another living space, typically the dining room or living room, creating a more spacious and interconnected feel. Opening Up the Space and Removing walls: This is the key step, taking down non-load-bearing walls that separate the kitchen from the living or dining area. You'll want to consult a structural engineer to ensure any remaining walls can support the weight of the house. Considering beams or columns: Depending on the layout and size of the opening, you might need exposed beams or support columns to maintain structural integrity. These can be incorporated into the design as a stylish feature. Kitchen Repositioning and Functionality: Rethinking the work triangle: The work triangle refers to the refrigerator, sink, and stove - the most used areas in a kitchen. In an open plan, you'll want to ensure these elements remain close together for an efficient workflow. This might involve rearranging cabinetry or appliances. Creating a focal point: An island is a popular choice in open concept kitchens. It can house the sink, cooktop, provide additional storage and counter space, and even offer seating for guests to chat while you cook. Peninsula counters can also be used for a similar effect. Unifying Design Elements: Use consistent flooring throughout the open area to create a cohesive flow. You can also extend the same color scheme or material accents (like backsplash tile) from the kitchen into the adjoining space. Letting in Light: Maximize natural light by incorporating large windows or skylights. This will brighten the entire open area and make it feel even more spacious. Storage Solutions: With an open plan, you might lose some wall space for cabinets. Consider built-in storage solutions like pantry cabinets or creative mudroom cabinetry to ensure you have enough storage for your kitchenware. An open floor plan kitchen renovation can be a transformative project, creating a light-filled and social space in your home. By carefully planning the layout, incorporating design elements that unify the space, and addressing practical considerations with lighting and storage, you can achieve a beautiful and functional open concept kitchen.

This kitchen remodel was designed to bring together functionality, brightness, and modern elegance. We installed custom white shaker cabinetry to maximize storage while keeping the space open and timeless. The cabinets are paired with brushed gold hardware, adding a subtle touch of warmth and sophistication. The kitchen features quartz countertops with bold natural veining, providing both durability and a striking visual contrast. A teal subway tile backsplash adds personality and depth, making this kitchen truly stand out while still feeling cohesive and refined. We completed the space with stainless steel appliances, a custom range hood, under-cabinet lighting, and natural hardwood flooring to enhance flow and comfort. The layout was thoughtfully designed to improve workflow, lighting, and everyday usability.

The original kitchen underwent some workflow changes prior to the refacing project. A new pantry cabinet and over the fridge cabinet were added, the fridge was repositioned and a new fridge gable was installed. The desk knee-space was eliminated in favor of a new cabinet with lower storage and cutlery size drawers. The original cabinet door/drawer fronts were a simple raised panel maple in a clear varnish. Water damage around the cooking/sink area and sun damage to the doors, etc. required a complete face lift by ‘refacing’. The refacing material is in Cherry veneer with a Charisma colored stain. Matching color doors and drawer fronts feature a Cherry Shaker style using 3/8” thick center panels. Blum soft-close hinges and new ‘customer sourced’ stainless handles were installed. New counter ‘task-lighting’ was added and new task light valances were installed to conceal this feature. Then a new subway tiled backsplash and new Cherry crown molding were installed to complete this beautiful new kitchen.

Keeping the layout and workflow the same, there were two important modifications designed into the space to give the homeowners the improved functionality they wanted. First, the refrigerator and pantry cabinetry were raised to the ceiling to create a subtle visual interest in the height variation. We relocated the microwave for improved accessibility and replaced the island with an extended top for added seating. The kitchen was further updated with all new custom cabinetry, quartzite countertops, a custom tile backsplash, and decorative lighting.
