This existing sleeping porch was reworked into a stunning Mid Century bathroom complete with geometric shapes that add interest and texture. Rich woods add warmth to the black and white tiles. Wood tile was installed on the shower walls and pick up on the wood vanity and Asian-inspired custom built armoire.

The genesis of design for this desert retreat was the informal dining area in which the clients, along with family and friends, would gather. Located in north Scottsdale’s prestigious Silverleaf, this ranch hacienda offers 6,500 square feet of gracious hospitality for family and friends. Focused around the informal dining area, the home’s living spaces, both indoor and outdoor, offer warmth of materials and proximity for expansion of the casual dining space that the owners envisioned for hosting gatherings to include their two grown children, parents, and many friends. The kitchen, adjacent to the informal dining, serves as the functioning heart of the home and is open to the great room, informal dining room, and office, and is mere steps away from the outdoor patio lounge and poolside guest casita. Additionally, the main house master suite enjoys spectacular vistas of the adjacent McDowell mountains and distant Phoenix city lights. The clients, who desired ample guest quarters for their visiting adult children, decided on a detached guest casita featuring two bedroom suites, a living area, and a small kitchen. The guest casita’s spectacular bedroom mountain views are surpassed only by the living area views of distant mountains seen beyond the spectacular pool and outdoor living spaces. When we met these homeowners, they had been gradually updating areas over time and they chose us to help reinvent their family room and master bath. The family room’s inspiration was Florida Coastal, which is our clients’ home away from home. We were charged with bringing in light and bright elements that remind them of the beach. The textural elements, along with watercolors achieved this look. We finished the room off with a nod to mid-century modern in a few pieces just to give the room some unique personality. In the master bath, the homeowners were excited to do something different and out of their comfort zone….enter black tile! An entire wall of beautiful, soft black undulated squares gives a high contrast to the rest of the white tones in the space and earned high marks with our homeowners. The wood appointments add a softened organic touch to ensure it’s not too sterile.

A freestanding tub positioned beneath a privacy-glazed window creates a quiet focal point within this soft contemporary primary bath. Large-format 24" x 48" porcelain tile with minimal shade variation and tight grout joints establishes a calm, seamless backdrop that allows the architecture and proportions of the room to take center stage. At the tub wall, a dramatic installation of Geo Prism white marble introduces texture, movement, and contrast, transforming an otherwise restrained palette into a memorable design statement. The result is a balance of quiet luxury and visual impact—an approach that feels distinctive enough to earn recognition while remaining timeless and broadly appealing to homeowners who appreciate thoughtful, enduring design.

This primary bedroom at Sunset on St. Croix, a rustic modern luxury home, features weathered antique box beams overhead and antique white oak flooring underfoot, set against a wood paneled accent wall behind the bed. Black steel windows and doors open to a view of the pool and lake beyond, while faux fur accent chairs, a cowhide rug, and a tufted upholstered headboard bring warmth and comfort to the room's rustic modern palette. Our weathered antique box beams are milled from a mix of softwoods, ranging from hemlock to pine, salvaged from joists, roof boards, decking, and walls of late 19th and early 20th century structures. The natural patina from a century of weathering gives them a darker, moodier character. Our antique white oak flooring takes the light and bright aesthetic of the species further, with a subtle grey patina earned over years of natural weathering, milled from timberstock salvaged from 19th century industrial buildings and displaying the unique grain patterns and durability old growth oak is known for.
