Faulding Architecture

I had the good fortune of working with Heather Faulding for the full-scale renovation of my brownstone in New York City. The house was only a shell when we began our renovation. I found her work outstanding for a number of reasons. Among them: •She was a highly competent designer in addition to being an excellent architect. This was a very pleasant surprise for two reasons: 1)Architecture and design are intimately connected. Heather was able to see her vision through from the macro decisions to the smallest design details. The outcome was completely harmonious. 2)Consequently, I incurred considerable savings of money and time, as I did not have to work with two separate teams. •She is one of the most creative people I have ever met. She has an innovative way of crafting design solutions and using materials that is pleasing and unique. Often time, her recommendations provided me with substantial cost savings. •While being a consummate professional, Heather had a way of making us feel valued as people as well as clients. She was a good listener and often went the extra mile to make sure the work was done in response to our needs as a family. •Finally, and importantly, in an industry populated by hard-nosed contractors and the like, Heather was tough. She stuck to her principles and took pains to adhere to the highest level of architectural and design standards. At the end of our renovation we were happy to say that we had a beautiful home that surpassed our original vision. As a result, Faulding Architecture has my sincere and enthusiastic endorsement.

With some design and construction background myself, finding an architect/designer to plan and execute my project was a challenge that Heather Faulding more than accomplished. Heather opened my eyes to an array of possibilities and then thoughtfully worked her magic, all while keeping my husband and my needs and ideas intact. She continually found out-of-the box ideas to all areas of the project. Starting with the plan of adding a library for displaying books, DVDs, CDs and magazines, our project grew to an addition of a two story library and indoor pool with sauna and steam room. Added to this was a wet bar and full bath, and a green-roofed shed for gardening and storage. Heather's vision for our backyard, with pergolas and patios, totally integrated the existing home with the addition. Heather's innate sense of style and design brought the finishing touches, including some custom designed furniture, to make our project something truly special.
