I was referred to this business for a curtain consultation and reached out via email. Gary called to explain their pricing model, along with the fact that they charge $160 / hr. for the initial estimate. Though I wasn't enthused about this, it's not the reason for giving them one star. I sent Gary a polite follow-up, asking if we could compromise by having me send measurements, then pick up sample books from their shop and choose fabrics over a weekend. This hardly seemed unreasonable, as it would demand minimal time or effort on the company's part, and I explained I fully understood if it was not something they'd consider. Gary then sent a reply he evidently intended for his buddies at HVL, and its exact wording was "Yikes they are coming out of the woodwork! I'll hit the eject button on him." I for one do not appreciate being described as "coming out of the woodwork," an idiom that derives from bugs infesting somebody's home. Nor do I feel it's remotely professional to say "yikes" in repulsion to a potential customer, or describe "ejecting" him like he's some sort of parasite. Readers, for sake of full disclosure, that was the end of my business with HVL--minus a weak half-apology, half-excuse from Gary--and I cannot speak a word about their products or services. But if this is how they discuss the public among themselves, do you really think they value your opinions or you as a person? Buyer beware.

Stephanie is extremely talented at all aspects of design and decor. I have worked with her for approximately ten years and have received quality results. She is creative, professional and wonderful to work with both in our home and business.

They've turning out sensitive and creative designs for exclusive hospitality projects and stylish remodels-- and everything in between. With their able associate, Gary Hahs and staff, this team is efficient, highly organized and considers every detail for their clients.

We hired HVL Interiors (Steffany Hollingsworth) in September 2012 to collaborate with our builder, Patriot Homes, in the construction and interior design of our new home in Albuquerque. What a lucky find! Armed with a modest budget, virtually no understanding of interior design, competing interests, and challenging timeline, we knew we needed help. Enter Steffany Hollingsworth from HVL Interiors to save the day! Although known as the most dynamic and cutting edge interior designers (I learned well after hiring them) in the Southwest, Steffany was personable, humble, willing to work within a budget, and excited to hear our (sometimes off the mark) ideas. Seriously folks, this lady has TALENT - I'd match her up against the best and brightest from HGTV any day! Not only does she have an absolute mastery of colors, textures, fabrics, and design-styles, she also is incredibly resourceful and hard working. She'll stretch your comfort zone and you'll be SO HAPPY she did. We absolutely love our new home and much of the credit goes to Steffany and HVL Interiors. In fact, we just learned that our home won the 2013 Parade of Homes and will be featured in Su Casa Magazine!

My husband and I hired HVL Interiors to help with the furnishing and design of the kitchen, living room and master bedroom in a new home purchased in the summer of 2012 in Santa Fe, NM. We needed to change the fireplaces in the living room and bedroom and lighting in the dining area and kitchen, along with choosing all new furnishings for the living room and bedroom. HVL started the process out right by producing drawings of the spaces and giving us ideas of what we could purchase in terms of furniture based on our own taste and ideas sent to them first. HVL provided guidance that was flexible but also firm--if something was going to be too large, the wrong color, or not in timing or tone with the rest of the house, they would tell us. Steffany Hollingsworth was wonderful--stopping by to help with a new bed/mattresses because my family was about to show up for the holidays, making an appearance when I had a fabric choosing meltdown, and bringing new and fresh ideas to the table so that we felt we'd curated the space rather than just filled it. Our bedroom has become a haven--my husband and I hang out on our custom sectional and read, the cat and dog agree it's the place to be. We find our home to be restful and sanctuary-like, and I give credit to HVL for their help. I never could have done this project alone and felt I could make decisions with confidence the whole way through. It has also been a wonderful exercise in utilizing my own creativity. HVL provided tools and information along with great taste so that I felt as if I were truly the artisan of my own spaces. Very impressed and excited to work with them on the next project--there is always a next project!

We moved from an East Coast Victorian row house to a Northern New Mexican-style adobe home in Santa Fe. HVL was able to blend two very different styles, letting us keep some of the old while embracing the colors and iconic touches of the Southwest. We were left with the best of both worlds, and we couldn't be happier with the HVL vision. They listened to us, were very easy to work with, and delivered everything on time or early.
