Mike worked on two floors of our 4-bedroom house. He sanded the ground floor, restained and sealed. The upstairs he added a coating of sealant. He was thourough and communicated his plan clearly. He finished right on schedule. The floors look and feel great. There was very little dust to clean when he was complete. I would hire Mike again for any floor staining and sealing work.

Mike was amazing in every way possible. We contacted him last Saturday after stopping the work that another flooring contractor had begun 11 workdays earlier. He met with us on Sunday and gave up his birthday vacation week to re-sand, stain and lay down three coats of Bona finish throughout the house. After 11 days of the prior contractor’s work, we had poorly sanded floors on two levels and barely started floors on the first level. Mike immediately pointed out all of the damages they had caused and told us he would start from scratch with sanding and edging correctly. He showed us gouges they had made and let us know he would sand them to the best of his ability. He discovered loose boards that the previous contractor had charged us to replace, glue and top nail. When removed, there was no adhesive used at all. He was single-handedly able to turn what had become a nightmare scenario into beautifully finished floors in 5 days time. He is a very meticulous, honest, compassionate man and an incredibly hard worker. As others have said, his attention to detail was outstanding. We had come up with a three color Duraseal stain mix that looked outstanding on our red oak floors in order to make them look natural without looking too red or too green. The previous contractor told us there would be a $3659 additional charge to use a mix of three stain colors instead of one color. Mike laughed and said he would buy a 5 gallon bucket, pour the ten quarts of stain needed to make the custom color into the bucket, stir with a free paint stick, and apply the stain with very little waste left. Total cost $6. We have custom built three homes and done many large renovation projects. I owned and operated an interior design business for several decades. Mike is unequivocally one of the few professionals we would recommend without a moment’s hesitation. Mike, installed new hardwood floors in two rooms, built a new hardwood landing and a hallway and then refinished our existing floors to match the new stain. The floors look awesome and the stain match is spot on. Mike was excellent to work with and his attention to detail was evident. During our stain picking decision there was one final sample from the swatches that we liked but Mike did not have it in his truck, We almost said to him not to worry about it but he immediately got on the phone to talked to a supplier and said he would be back in 20 minutes with the new stain. He was and he put it down next to the others. We did not pick it but he never made us feel as if we were bothering or inconveniencing him in anyway. We highly recommend Mysha's Flooring Co. We had a superb experience with Mike. We hired Mike to install hardwood flooring in the upstairs of our home, which included 4 bedrooms each with closets, and a hallway. Highly recommend. Mike was efficient, professional, and kind, and he did fantastic work on our floors. He leveled out the upstairs floor of our bungalow (there was a step down out of the primary bed for some reason), added more sleepers when it turned out ours were spaced too far apart, and all in all just did a very good and thorough job of replacing the old carpet with beautiful red oak. If we ever need work done on the downstairs floors, we'll definitely be calling Mike.

I definitely recommend Mysha's Flooring. Mike is very nice, thoughtful, hard-working, and detail-oriented. Even my cat who is usually scared liked him (haha). The wood I ordered (independently) had a lot more "character" than I thought, and Mike spent extra time going through the boards with me and laying out the floor in advance so that I could remove the pieces I didn't like. He didn't complain at all about any challenges in the space (lifting furniture, fitting the table saw, etc.). The new install turned out beautifully! He is not at all scared of hard work, and prides himself on a job done well. Because he works individually, it could take a little longer than a big service with multiple people, but I think that is totally worth it - since he independently and it is his own business, he is experienced and motivated to do the best job possible. I'm also a perfectionist, so I could relate to him. I will definitely hire him again when we refinish our other floors! His prices are also quite good!

Exceptional work- Refinished double staircase and was able to match the finish to the original floor which was over 30 years old. Additional work was done on my first floor with buffing and resealing hardwood floors. They look great!!! Mike was a pleasure to work with. I am so happy I went with Mike to redo my floors. After buying an older house, I ripped up the carpet and found hardwood floors in extremely bad condition. After getting a few quotes, when Mike came for the quote I knew he was the one for the job - he was direct, provided a reasonable quote and there was something about him where I believed he would do a great job. In four days he transformed my staircase and repaired broken stairs, broken bullnoses and sanded the upstairs floor down to a beautiful new floor. Then I had to choose a stain. He put down eight samples and was extremely patient with me in choosing. Mike immediately reached out in response to my request for an estimate with a detailed explanation of what his process is and the products he uses. He was a great communicator throughout the entire project, early to appointments and was able to start and stop the job ahead of schedule. We were in a rush to get the floors done before moving into our condo in Lakeview and Mike made sure the entire project was stress free. Based on this experience we plan to hire Mysha's to redo the floors in our kitchen when it's renovated later this year.

After seeing his excellent reviews here, I hired Mike primarily based on my impression of his integrity and work ethic when he came to give me a quote. I got quotes from 3 companies, one of which was a personal friend referral. He was the 3rd one I interviewed and when he left I was hoping his quote would be resonable because I knew he was the guy I wanted to hire. And yeah, it was reasonable. He did a 1550 sq feet (6 rooms) hardwood floor installation of 3/4 inch by 3 & 1/4 prefinished. (I used maple - which I'm glad I did). He worked alone, and does so hard and efficiently (no lunch break). He'll start in the morning as early as you like (7:00 am for me) work 7 or 8 hours and clean up each day before going home. He completed mine in 6 consecutive days. Completely honest family man, Highly recommend!

We worked with Mike to restore our old hardwood floors that had been covered by some terribly worn linoleum for 60+ years. The hardwood floors had never been finished, so they were raw, stained and in pretty rough shape after being covered by deteriorating underlayment and tar paper, but we desperately wanted to save them rather than cover them again. We had a couple of flooring people turn us down for the project after seeing the photos since there were so many nails in the wood and old tar paper stuck to the surface, but Mike was up for the challenge and was completely undeterred. We went on to have one of the most pleasant experiences in working with a contractor ever. Mike has over 20 years of experience and was extremely knowledgeable. He worked extremely hard and fast, was very punctual, reasonably priced, and a pleasure to work with. While he works alone, he had techniques that allowed him to move quickly through a project so our entire project was done in 4 days. We are just thrilled with the outcome and grateful to have gorgeous hardwood floors shining for the first time in our old cottage. We are so impressed with Mike and highly recommend him to anyone. We know that if we could bring our old floors back to life, he could tackle any project. He is a true miracle worker and such a rare, wonderful find.

He quoted me a price and I did not have to pay until all the work was complete. He arrived on time and worked all day. He was tidy, he also cleaned and cleared the debris before he left each day. I am thoroughly impressed and extremely pleased with the work.

At the moment, Mike's a one-man contractor--not because he doesn't want a big team (he could easily expand), its because he doesn't want to sacrifice quality of finished product and service levels. We gave Mysha's one of the hardest jobs a flooring contractor could have. We purchased an 18 year old home that had beautiful Brazilian cherry hardwood floors. Although the floors were beautiful, the cherry color wasn't modern and we desired to refinish them to gray. Trying to turn Brazilian cherry wood to gray is arguably the hardest refinishing job any flooring contractor could have--and most won't even attempt it. Mike took on the challenge and knocked it out of the park! Our floors are now a beautiful, modern gray. Mike was phenomenal to work with, listened well to what we wanted, and went out of his way to ensure everything went perfectly. Mysha's isn't the least expensive option, but the slight premium was well-deserved. You're not getting a crew of inexperienced folks, you will have the owner doing everything from A to Z. Mike is everything people said and more.. he contacted me immediately, came out to give an estimate and was incredibly knowledgeable. Mike took his time and wove our new hardwood floor into the old one, the transition was seamless. Likewise with the thresholds. He took care to Alternate boards from boxes so the floor was evenly variegated. We are extremely pleased with his work.

Mike did an amazing job from start to finish. We refinished the hardwood floors throughout our entire house in Lake Forest, the entire first floor and most of the second (appx 4,000 sq ft). He was extremely helpful in assisting us in selecting the right stain, finish, etc...... He was extremely patient dealing with us as we made the decisions. Mike was wonderful refinishing the floors in our new condo. He was very flexible as our schedule changed multiple times due to the close date of the condo and when our movers were coming. He did a wonderful job changing our yellow engineered wood floors to be a beautiful white oak appearance. He also tore out the carpeting that was on our stairs and installed white oak stairs with white risers that really brighten up our staircase. He was friendly, punctual, and efficient. He left our condo spotless, there was no issues with dust remaining on the walls or shelves. He was also very communicative and even helped us make our final decision on what shade to go with. Mike helped us with sanding and refinishing of our unit. He is a professional, dedicated, and hardworking contractor. We have engineered hardwoods in our apartment and they are more difficult to sand. Also the top layer is very thin and sometime it is not possible to sand them. In a few tiles, the sanding totally removed the top layer and the layers below that appeared which was not aesthetically appealing. Mike search and found a piece of wood with matching color and replaced those tiles for us. Even though he spent a significant time for the extra repairs, he was able to finish the job in the promised time. I totally recommend Mike and Mysha's flooring for your flooring projects.

I’d give 6 stars if I could. Mike is responsive, professional, courteous, and VERY good at hardwood flooring work! He responded to my inquiry via Houzz immediately and in a very professional manner. He showed up on time as promised to assess the original oak floors in our Oak Park bungalow. When he found an area of damaged flooring that was hidden by old carpet, he immediately assessed and advised that the flooring needed to be replaced. Knowing there’s a shortage, he contacted multiple wood distributors immediately and found the product we needed. He replaced a bedroom worth of red oak and sanded the rest of the home before applying a natural stain and commercial-grade topcoat. I won’t tell you how fast he worked for fear of boxing him in, but his work was completed on budget and FASTER than promised despite the unforeseen condition. He even agreed to come back a few days later to fix a loose board without hesitation. Mike is a true craftsman who delivers quality work. I’ve recommended him to two other homeowners and will continue to recommend him.

I contracted with Mysha's Flooring Company to refinish my maple, hardwood flooring, in Glenview IL. Approx 1,250 SF on the 1st floor of my home. For the estimate, Mike showed up at the agreed upon date and time and promptly followed up with a competitive estimate. I hired Mike to do the work and we agreed to a date to start the work, and a duration for the work. Mike was clear in communication with respect to scope of work, products and materials to be used, method of procedure, schedule and details. Mike did an amazing job refinishing pine, maple and oak floors in our 1900 house. He knows the technical side of his craft inside and out and is an ingenious problem solver. He was also sensitive to color and aesthetics and involved me in all the decisions, going so far as to apply various color options on each newly sanded floor and discuss the properties of different finishes. While refinishing our stairs he devised a way to stop them creaking, added trim to disguise old gaps, and matched the new trim color to the surrounding older wood. The stairs are the first thing a guest sees and now they present beautifully, and I can titpoe upstairs without a creak. All of this is laborious and difficult work but he remains good natured and flexible. I recommend Mike without hesitation.

One week ago our hardwood floors were transformed from half shined, stained and uneven to brilliant spotless flooring with a light gray stain. At first I thought the floors would have a little shine because I viewed them while they were still wet. However, when the floors were completely dry the floors looked like an entire new wood floor had been laid in its place. My husband and I were very pleased with Mike Mysha's customer service. He explained to us in detail about the process he would use to complete job. He even offered us four different stain samples to choose from. After the floor was completed, he left our apartment neat and clean. Mike also gave us instructions on how to maintain our beautiful floor. We are very happy and plan to use him again for other floor projects.

Mike came highly recommended and still exceeded our lofty expectations. He did a fantastic job installing multiple rooms of new flooring and weaving those boards into other, pre-existing hardwood floors. He then sanded and stained everything beautifully.

Worked with Mysha couple of times. Once for sanding and refinishing. Then, had to re-install the same condo couple of years later. Had great experience on the sanding project but he did a horrendous job on the new install. The floor did not last a week before it started warping and gaping. He offered to refinish the floor but never did. He does not stand behind his work.

Another company told us they couldn't refinish parts of our house but Mike did a beautiful job refinishing all our floors. He had us pick 4 stain colors and did samples on the floor. We were allowed only one day to for people to come in and provide estimates on a house that we were purchasing, and we were given it at the last second. Mike was referred to us by former neighbors who said he was the best...and it turns out they weren't kidding. Mike was punctual to the estimate and not only worked with us, but also educated us on the process and why he was going to do certain things. We had some horrible tile in our kitchen and he quickly identified the best way he would remove it, and then seamlessly execute a plan that would give us one continuous hardwood floor throughout the first floor. Knowing we were on a budget, he put together 3 pricing options depending on how integrated we wanted the kitchen area to blend in and all were reasonable. He was confident he would be able to match the exact stain of our connected stairs, saving money and hassle. He did. Most importantly, Mike was incredibly empathetic to our time frame and the stress that comes with moving. He worked with the painters to create a schedule that would maintain safety and not compromise any of the projects. More importantly, when we discovered the painters had left a chemical that destroyed some of his work, Mike was responsive and assured us that we wouldn't even know it happened. Mike did a fantastic job installing wood laminate floor in my condo. He was the only one of several contractors that we called who agreed to remove existing ceramic tile, and he offered a fair price for the project. Mike was courteous and punctual, and he was responsive to all texts and phone calls. Unfortunately, some of the floor boards I purchased were of poor quality laminate (I didn't know). Mike meticulously inspected the boards and made sure that only the good ones were installed. Additionally, the store had delays delivering some materials. Mike was able to accommodate the timeline and made sure that the project was completed to my satisfaction. I would highly recommend him.

I hated my hardwood floors In my family room & kitchen the way they looked. Someone put the wrong finish on them. They were glossy.You could see every speck of dust & anything else! And the last people who did my floors really messed them up, you could see sanding- buffing marks. They originally were water based satin finish, so I wanted them returned to the original finish. I had a guy working on my kitchen & asked if he new anyone who did hardwood floors. So he called Mike for me. Mike contacted me, came out & gave me an estimate. My gut told me to go with Mike, I didn't really know the guy that recommended Mike, but felt he worked out well so I went with it. So glad I did! Mike did a beautiful job! He fixed everything I hated. I had taken the carpet out of my living room in August of 2017 & was walking around on old padding & cardboard until I finished other remodeling projects. Needless to say I had Mike put hardwood floors in my living room also. My projects were done in November & December of 2018. Each project only took a couple of days each. I should have been just as prompt with this review as Mike was with my floors. Sorry it took me so long Mike!!!!

Our house was built in 1924 and had subfloors that varied 2-3 inches out of level in some locations. We were looking to get engineered wood flooring installed on top of radiant heated concrete floors. On doing a search and submitting my information on Houzz I was promptly contacted by Mike from Mysha's Flooring Company. A quick conversation later Mike was at my place measuring the sq ft which was promptly followed by a very reasonable quote. This was a pleasant surprise to me as I had received some ridiculous quotes from other flooring company's. On the day I received the quote we locked down a contract and we were good to go. Mike arrived on time on the day of the appointment and was extremely courteous and professional. My biggest concern was the fact that we had a lot of furniture and very little space to move it to but he figured out a way to get the job done without damaging anything. The flooring install itself was immaculately done with him taking the time to get it right. Even with that he completed the job ahead of schedule. Excellent service & excellent quality. As the architect and general contractor, working with Mike on a total gut rehab of a Chicago Bungalow was a pleasurable experience. Mike goes the extra mile to make sure his work is top notch and I couldn't be happier. We had a difficult project in that 1/2 of the existing hardwood floors were water damaged and on sleepers and the new flooring had to merge seamlessly with a new sub-floor. Mike did an outstanding job and I would recommend as your flooring specialist.

I had a wood floor installed and it began to buckle and seperate at the seams. I hired Mike and he came back multiple times to correct the original installers mistakes and completely fixed the flooring issue. He was always on time and charged an extremely fair price for the project. I'd recommend him for any flooring issues you may be experiencing.

Mike installed new wood flooring in our condo. Absolutely a fantastic experience from start to finish. He was always on time for giving us a proposal, for measurements and for finalizing the contract. He arranged for the wood to be delivered and despite a small hiccup during the delivery window, he was flexible with the supplier and managed the process. I'd highly recommend Mike for any hardwood flooring work. Mike installed about 700 sq. ft of hardwood floor at my 1 bedroom condo. Mike showed up on time, every time. He had a tight window to complete the project and came through finishing on time. I have concrete subfloors which creates some difficulties in installation. Mike explained the different installation options I had with ease which comforted me about the process and displayed his knowledge. I'd highly recommend Mike, extremely professional and nice!
