We’ve worked with Right Design Lab on many successful projects for our home in the last six years, and we can’t say enough how happy and appreciative we are. The first thing Carroll recommended was that we create a comprehensive plan and layout for our entire home, that envisioned everything on our pretty big wish list. We've seen repeatedly how important that master plan was, and it really set the course for all our future success. We added bedrooms and a bathroom for our expected kids (got em!), an amazing kitchen that is pure joy to use and be in, and a perfect home office that we still can’t figure out how Carroll found the space for. And along the way we improved all our storage, lighting, finishes, colors and so many other important details we never would have thought of. We gratefully recommend Right Design Lab for all their creative, smart, knowledgeable, achievable, fun-to-work-with talents and experience!

We've worked with Carroll on 3 different projects since 2017, and we just keep hiring him because he is so so amazing to work with. In addition to our 3 projects, he designed a new addition and deck/stairs for the rear unit in our triplex, so we have a lot of experience working with him. Our first project was creating a 1/2 bath out of half of our walk-in closet. Carroll went through all the options about where to put the bathroom given our small footprint, and asked all the right questions about our lifestyle, how we imagine the kids' needs changing over time, and gently but firmly lead us to the design decision that made the most sense in a way that feels intuitive. He is really skilled about optimizing small spaces down to the inch, and working with all kinds of design parameters (including budget!) The next project was a down-to-the-studs full bath remodel. Again, Carroll was amazing at visioning the entire project as well as providing guidance on fixtures, finishes, lighting, colors, etc. It should also be said that Carroll has a great team of contractors and craftspeople that he uses and is an incredible resource for who to call and where to shop locally. Carroll kept the project on track even when we were out of the country and had to make some decision over the phone. The project turned out even better than we had imagined. Our current project is several orders of magnitude larger in scope and budget - a full kitchen remodel, down to the studs, including moving an interior stairway, creating a new back deck, and other more major structural changes. Carroll guided us through staging all of the necessary steps, and was always on top of managing expectations in terms of timeline and budget. We always felt his genuine interest in our project; he takes pride in delivering outstanding design, and seems to actually enjoy the process of collaboration. We're also always wowed by the scope of his expertise- he can think in 3 dimensions about the entire space on a macro level, and then be just as engaged when consulting about the shape and color of the cabinet handles. A final point- Carroll is great w design and project management, but has a knack for the 'soft skills' of diplomatically getting individuals with different viewpoints (either members of a couple, or families within a community like we have) to feel heard, while steering to consensus. I think this is an unsung talent that they probably don't teach in architecture school but is essential to work with actual people. Obviously, we are thrilled to have connected to Right Design Lab for so much of our home's transformation. We're almost sad to be running out of projects to hire him for! We'd give Carroll 6 stars if Houzz let us.

Seeking help from Carroll Moore was the best decision we made when we set out to refresh a tired old bathroom in our 1911 Craftsman home. We had assumed we would simply replace the floor, walls and fixtures without altering the basic layout, but through a series of pandemic-era Zoom meetings, Carroll patiently and expertly guided us to an entirely different approach. Carroll's creative vision and long experience with homes similar to ours led him to suggest reconfiguring the original awkward floor plan of our Jack and Jill bathroom by converting two adjacent bedroom closets into a short hallway, replacing the closets with more contemporary storage solutions, and creating space for a larger and more sensibly organized bathroom. It was a solution we never would have thought possible, but now that the project is complete, the renovated spaces function beautifully and feel completely in harmony with the spirit of our home. From the start, Carroll engaged us in a design process that was both fun and productive. He listened carefully to our early, unformed ideas about style and function, and helped us translate those vague concepts into a concrete plan that we couldn't have envisioned on our own. We brought some slightly unorthodox preferences to the table, and Carroll was able to embrace our eccentricities tp create a design that suits us perfectly. As part of that process, he also referred us to local suppliers for the cabinetry, fixtures and materials like tiles and shower glass, and those connections had a big positive impact on our project. Finally, at a time when many local contractors were busy and unavailable, Carroll hooked us up with a fantastic contractor he works with regularly, and their designer/builder partnership made the implementation of Carroll's plan surprisingly smooth and hassle-free. Carroll Moore is an excellent designer and a genuinely good person. We recommend his services without reservations.

While our project was relatively small compared to Carroll's typical projects, nonetheless, his guidance was instrumental. We sought out Carroll's help to help us design a table for our dining room. His designer's mind asked all the right questions to understand our space and the way we planned to use the space. He also inquired about previous dining room tables that no longer fit in our new space but helped clue him into what would serve us best. Ultimately, his creative thinking provided us with a solution that I am just delighted with. A big thank you to Carroll, not just for sharing his expertise with us, but for facilitating a space that fosters beautiful family gatherings--truly priceless.

As a genaral contractor, the relationship with an Architect is almost as important as the relationship with our clients when it comes to having a successful project. We have been more than lucky to work with Carroll a number of times over the years and my only comment, I wish it could be more. Carroll is a great person, a superb listener, and has a great vision when it comes to space, flow and design. I would highly recommend anyone looking for an Architect to talk to Carroll and consider yourself lucky if your timelines align and you get the opportunity to work together.

Carroll and Right Design Lab are truly wonderful to work with and we couldn't have asked for a better experience with our garage-turned-bonus room remodel. Carroll is communicative, hands-on, knowledgeable, and creative, and he's got a great sense of humor and joy that he brings to his work. There seemed to be nonstop decisions to be made along the way, from big choices that could impact overall design, to smaller decisions like hardware for the doors. He always came to us to share options, gave us pros and cons for each, shared his take and preferences based on what he thought we'd like, and was sensitive to our budget. Carroll was a wonderful partner for the varied work we did on our home. As first time homeowners with a 100+ year old house, there were a lot of things that needed work. Carroll's architectural expertise, keen design sense, and outstanding communication skills helped us navigate and prioritize our various projects. We interviewed other architects and designers who were very rigid in the types of projects they would take on, and the ways they worked. But Carroll was always flexible and willing to think outside the box. A real pleasure to work with, he helped us take our home to a new level of beauty and durability - may it last another hundred years!

I couldn't be more thrilled to let people know what I think about working with Carroll Moore - he's a star! Carroll partnered with us several years ago on a complete, down to the studs, kitchen remodel/expansion. There is much to love about working with Carroll - he's kind and patient, he's a great listener, he's creative and collaborative, he's through and professional - he's just damn good at what he does! Carroll thoughtfully re-imagined the space and created a gorgeous, modern kitchen that worked so well for our family and blended beautifully with the rest of our home. One of his ingenious ideas was to design a double skylight that involved opening up the ceiling and this was truly transformational. I give Carroll and Right Design Lab my highest recommendation.

We found Carroll, Right Design Lab, in 2016 while attending the Rockridge Kitchen Tour. I walked into “his” kitchen and immediately felt like this is someone who can optimize space in a tasteful and clever way. We live in a condo and wanted to redo our kitchen, 2 bathrooms, soundproof our ceilings, and open-up/widen a narrow arch between our living room and former dining room. Our small kitchen was a 10’ x 10’ crowded space (crowded because we didn’t have enough storage space and because I like kitchen things too much - to be honest.) There was a counter and a partial wall dividing the kitchen from the dining room. When we met Carroll he opened our eyes to our space in way that hadn’t occurred to us. For example, he asked us if we ever considered moving our dining table into our living room (we have a large living room and it was under-used.) By doing this we could open up our kitchen and have a small table in what was the former dining room. This was a brilliant idea and because we now use our living room/dining room more it feels like we added square footage to our space. When designing the kitchen I am so glad that we had Carroll’s insight about practical needs as well. Since Carroll is also a chef, he recognized where to optimize counter-space. We added more counter depth (went from 24” to 30”) which makes a huge difference and also gives us more under-counter cabinet space, which was greatly needed. Carroll was very sensitive and conscious about protecting and preserving (relocating) and not just eliminating space. In our living room I had a work desk in the corner (where the dining table eventually went) and Carroll was very insistent that if we were to remove my desk we had to find another place where I could have my space. Another sweet addition was to find a place to put our cat’s litter box which was in our hallway. He saw where we could transform a closet, separate it into two distinct spaces, and put the litter box in the bottom. As others reviewers have said, Carroll has a wonderful style and shared his talents with us when asked. He was extremely accommodating in meeting with us, is a fantastic listener, and above all a terrific human being.

Working with Carroll and Sarah from Right Design Lab is always amazing. We've worked on several projects with them and would work with them again for future projects. We remodeled our kitchen, 3 bathrooms, put in a 4th bathroom, rebuilt our master bedroom, moved laundry upstairs, put in a wet bar, replaced all light fixtures, painted interior and exterior, and replaced several windows. Carroll and Sarah were with us every step of the way, helping to pick out materials, colors, and styles, and helping to navigate the inevitable snags that you run into during major remodel projects. They're incredible! They also introduced us to a great landscape architect so we could do a total makeover our yard in fall 2018. They have impeccable taste in other professionals that they work with and we've never been disappointed with the GCs, trades, and others they've recommended we work with.

Carroll Moore of Right Design Lab is that rare mix of competent “smarty pants” home design Pro and a truly great human being. We called him our “Renovation Therapist” because until he came into the picture my wife and I had been stuck for many years in “no person’s land” getting our home remodel to happen. We engaged his services and never looked back! I cannot believe we are back in our newly remodeled home: Kitchen, master bathroom and half bath, including addressing our specific environmental needs. We love every square inch of it. Carroll advised us, drew up specific plan ideas, brought resources, actively listened to and gently held us through the twists and turns of the project. We are thrilled and forever grateful!

Carroll is the best possible designer for a kitchen remodel. At least that is how it worked out for us. If you think you can plan and designate the work for a major remodel on your own think again. Carroll brought the acumen to bring not only design concepts to the project but more importantly the right contractors to the job. This aspect alone is worth every penny we paid. My wife and I can not recommend this company (Right Design) enough. Just an amazing on budget and on schedule project. That's a rare find.
