Salvatore, The Medium by Design

I love my Kitchen!!! This is not a statement I would have made in the fall of 2019, when we moved into our condo. As I sit at my kitchen island and absorb how warm and beautiful my space has become. I have to be very thankful our daughter had developed a friendship with Salvatore. She brought this wonderful man into our lives. Salvatore helped to gently guide me through the decisions necessary that turned our dreams into the masterpiece, I sit in today. The process was slow, but not a detail was over looked. We visited showrooms and brought samples home and I lived with the products for a while. Salvatore was always at our side, asking questions and making suggestions. We would review and discuss numerous times before moving forward to the next step. Not a detail was overlooked. Each choice became right for me, meeting my taste and my needs. A new kitchen is a dream my husband envisioned for me, the condo kitchen was very out dated and just blaa! Our daughter and my husband went for one of their frequent lunch outings. Two days later Roger (my husband) passed away. Our daughter told me later, he kept insisting, “Your mother needs to get that kitchen remodeled, make sure she gets this done.” Unfortunately, Roger passed away before we could draw up plans, look at samples, or spend time in showrooms. But through Salvatore, Roger was with us through the entire process. Thank you Salvatore, my designer, my confidant, and my dear friend.

I met Salvatore through a mutual friend. As soon as we started talking about what I wanted to remodel, I knew we would click! Salvatore really takes the time to listen to your wants, anticipate your needs and let you take your time in developing the exact design that transforms your living space. He is very particular about the work that is done, keeping me informed during all aspects of the job. This project was the first of several I have planned with Salvatore to make our three generation house a home!

I had the opportunity of a life time to work with Salvatore and fulfill my dream of having a beautiful home. I had no idea how to make this dream come true. I cut pictures out of magazines and clipped decorating ideas from the Internet. My dreams and pictures helped Salvatore understand what kind of living space I needed. He took me shopping to look at flooring, granite, and cabinets. We looked at paint colors. I could tell that he enjoyed doing this and together we worked on a unique design that no one else in the world has in their living space. Some of my ideas just didn’t work and Salvatore, through his experience, saved me from making some big mistakes. Sometimes my ideas needed expanding and he suggested new ideas that I had thought were impossible and things that I thought I couldn’t afford on a retirement income - beautiful things don’t have to cost a lot of money. He asked -What kind of bathtub do you want in your guest bathroom? By then, I was so tired of making decisions about faucets and tiles and fixtures, I said “I don’t know. Surprise me.” Well, the sleek, modern bathtub he picked out turned out to be one of my favorite things. Everyone who sees my house says “Love your bathtub!” It was always reassuring when we both looked at something and said at the same time “No, that just doesn’t work” or “What if we did this . . . ?“ I truly appreciated the opportunity to participate in the design of my house. The icing on the cake was at the end of the project, Salvatore gave me a couple of surprise gifts; things that were not in the budget. These were things that he kept secret until the reveal. One was can lights in my living room over all the places where I needed extra light – why didn’t I think of that? The second surprise was that he changed all the door knobs throughout my house to modern stainless steel handles. His detail and suggestions added great value to my home – to me personally and also added great value to my house when it is someday sold.

Salvatore is much more than a designer. With his maniacal attention to details and his clients' spiritual conditions, he transformed not only my mother's house, but our hearts and souls to a serene level that surpassed any of our imaginations. The house was shrouded in darkness and sadness when we started. It ended in clear happiness. Salvatore listened to us and to our beloved departed. The healing has allowed us to enjoy not only the house, but our lives again.
