I highly recommend Smithcraft Fine Construction. Matt is very professional and I felt very comfortable having him in my house overseeing my project. We did a remodel on our home that included new hardwood floors, tile, quartz countertops/backsplash, new fireplace, a custom built in bookcase/entertainment center, paint, and many other details to pull it all together. The quality of the craftsmanship exceeded my expectations. Matt built a beautiful bookcase and entertainment unit that was of our own design and included many custom features. He engineered a system to house all of the electronic components hidden behind the unit and accessible through a door that is not visible when not in use. The tile he laid in a herringbone pattern the entryway, bathroom, and mudroom is exquisite. Smithcraft also came in and fixed some of the shoddy work done by different contractors that I hired before I met Matt. I have hired Matt again since our initial job and plan to use him on my next project as well.

Everyday I wake up and fall more in love with our new (14 month old) finishes! We hired Matt to install quartz, marble, new fixtures, and appliances in our kitchen, three baths, and fireplace hearth. However, not before checking into his credentials and most importantly, reviews from previous clients. As was the case with what we had read in previous reviews, Matt delivered! He exceeded our expectations from the start, and at every turn. His level of professionalism, communication, and attention to the details was exemplary. Additionally, he coached us in sorting out some of the questions we had concerning finishes and the ensuing maintenance requirements. Not only was the end result a visual pleasure for us to feast our eyes on, our maintenance and tidying time is negligible! Another plus was his conscientiousness with the demolition, and here I mean loads of dust and debris. Throughout the process he kept the surroundings as clean as possible; which was very appreciated. It is without reservation that both my husband and I recommend Smithcraft. A top notch, quality company that we trust, and will return to when the opportunity arises! Matt eased the trepidation and wariness of this OCD, demanding customer; and we thank him for it!

To those who are looking for a contractor who will deal honesty and provide fine craftsmanship, please read this review. We had a tragic event happen more than three years ago when our home caught on fire early New Year’s Day. The aftermath that ensued was much harder for us than watching the firefighters try to save our home. Within days following, we began searching for a contractor to help us with the restoration process and knew very little going in. The next two years of our lives were spent fighting to make sure everything was done correctly; in and out of court with dishonest and incompetent contractors. By the time we learned what questions to ask prospective new contractors, we found Smithcraft. At that point the majority of the restoration was complete. When Matt came in, he thoroughly reviewed our status and advised us on what we needed to do to complete the project and get signed off with the city. He also found a problem with our framing and drywall which was expertly corrected by his one of his team members. He protected our home as the bathrooms were completed – on time and on budget. His integrity has restored our faith in humanity and brought joy at the end of a long and stressful journey. We highly recommend Smithcraft Fine Construction. Thank you, Matt!

Our project was a large four sided fireplace surrounded with a built-in oven and microwave on the opposite wall. The store was an "Island stone" with a complex pattern that came in very small pieces. Matt installed the stone seamlessly, without grout. He did an amazing job! He was always very professional, punctual, and worked quietly. Matt cleaned up the project every day before he left, and he finished within the time he had specified. The fireplace looks amazing and is now the beautiful focal point of the house!!! Five stars plus to Matt!

Our design firm has over 25 years of experience in new construction and remodeling. In that time, I have met very few contractors with the skill and talent provided by Matt Smith and his team. The difference between an average job and work done by a true craftsman is readily apparent, and Matt's work is high level. His attention to detail and commitment to doing a job the right way is readily apparent. We recently finished a complex, detailed kitchen and master bath project together. Matt's work is impeccable and he is a consummate professional. We are happy to refer Smithcraft unconditionally and we will definitely be working with them again in the future.

After staring at an unfinished project for way too long we contacted Matt of Smithcraft Fine Construction. Matt was wonderful to work with from the initial meeting to job completion. He had great communication skills from scheduling meeting times, talking through design concepts and materials, to work progress. He made it a point to let us know what was going on during the different phases of our project and was always open to questions. The level of detail in his work is amazing and he strives to make things as perfect as possible. Matt was conscientious about his work space and cleaned up everyday so the construction impact was minimal on our lives. I was very pleased working with Matt and have nothing but wonderful things to say about his work-- I would give him 10 stars if I could.

Matt and his team did 3 different projects in our home; our master bathroom, our daughters bathroom and our kitchen. All 3 turned out amazing. Matt thought through each project with an attention to detail that made my head spin! Our house was a complete renovation of a 1954 Mid-Mod, He dealt with "little surprises" with all three areas and handled them with good humor and excellent craftsmanship. We enjoyed having Matt in our home, and our 2 year old son still talks about "Tile Matt!". I'd highly recommend hiring Smithcraft for any of your tiling projects.

Matt too on a project to re-grout our vertical spa, which turned out to be a much bigger project after we discovered dry rot caused by improper installation of the pan and glass block fourteen years ago. Matt assessed the problem, suggested a solution, got our approval, and found specialized tools / materials to complete the work. His was an approach that saved us thousands of dollars in marble rework. He was professional, honest, timely and clean. I would recommend him for any work you have.

You could not pick a more professional, hardworking, artistic, company to install your project. Smithcraft did our entry wall and fireplace and I absolutely love the finished product. We couldn't be more happy. Many installers are good but Matt is an artist as well in his work. Always on time, careful with the surrounding area, sometimes reworking an area just to get it right, offers suggestions but open to ours... I can't say enough. We will have him do our next project.

Matt did the tile work in and on our kitchen walls/backsplash and we are so, so pleased. Not only was his craftsmanship extraordinary, he himself was SUPER professional. He followed up on emails promptly, arrived to bid the job dressed nicely and clean and was always on time. Matt did the work with such precision and perfection. The tile work he crafted truly completes our kitchen remodel beautifully. In addition, he expertly helped hang our stove hood vent which required some tricky finagling. We couldn't have done it without him. We would no doubt use Matt again for future projects!
