We worked with Sarah on the design of our new home, and the result is both beautiful and highly functional. From the beginning, she brought a clear vision and wasn’t afraid to take the design in unexpected directions—choices we ultimately loved and would not have arrived at on our own. I worked with Sarah on a consultant basis using her service, ‘The Edit.’ Sarah came in at a point when I was experiencing decision fatigue and helped me quickly finalize the lighting throughout my parlor-level apartment, select stone for my kitchen countertops, complete our upstairs bathroom, and design our downstairs layout and primary bathroom. Using Sarah in this capacity really helped keep the project on track and moving forward. She had beautiful suggestions, and we are thrilled with how everything came together.

After years of trying to buy, we ultimately settled on a rental that didn’t initially excite us. While we had planned to hire a designer for a home purchase, we hadn’t considered it for a rental—until we met Sarah. She was more than willing to help us make quick, thoughtful decisions on optimizing the space and designing our daughter’s room. Sarah was an absolute pleasure to work with—creative, budget-conscious, and incredibly resourceful. Working with Sarah has been such a good choice! There are so many interior designers out there and many with fixed opinions. I've never felt silly to suggest or ask questions - Sarah not only has made our home feel comfortable and usable for a family of four + our dog, but also educated me on so many things as a homeowner. When we decided to remodel our foyer and small living room, we only had some pictures of mid-century modern sofas and furniture. Sarah presented us with several design choices based on a mid-century style, listened to suggestions we had for changes and came up with a cohesive design that incorporated what we loved while adding some new design choices we wouldn't have thought of. She introduced us to a contractor she trusted and worked closely with him to ensure we stayed on track. Sarah was very easy to work with and was always responsive to my calls and e-mails. She provided budgets with low, mid and high-end items. This allowed us to decide where we could spend a little more on the things we loved and save on other elements of the remodel. We now have a beautiful, well laid out, cozy and functional living room that still feels roomy despite the small space. We look forward to working with Sarah when we remodel our bathroom next year. I worked with Sarah to redesign by master bedroom and master bathroom. She completely turned my rooms from okay looking to the cover of a designer magazine. Sarah is meticulous and super organized. She first came to see my space, took measurements, created a virtual representation of the space and gave me three design layouts to choose from. Once I decided on a layout, we then started conversing on color scheme and items/furniture to fill the space. You might think to yourself that you don't need an interior designer and that you can do it yourself, but I ask you to reconsider. I had never used an interior designer before. I was always intimidated by the thought and didn’t think it was necessary. When I moved to my first sizable house, I was inundated by how to cohesively furnish it. I started my search for design help but found the online sites not hands-on enough for this big task and the few local recommendations seemed to have their own set uniform design style that didn’t make me feel heard. I finally learned about Sarah Kruze and her design business from a mutual friend. Sarah’s first challenge was interpreting our design style. My husband and I only knew our dislikes and not the design terms for anything. Next she had to design our two-story entryway that led into a fireplace area that is open on three sides as it is basically a pivot point from the foyer straight into the two-story living room or into the adjacent open kitchen. My husband and I were stumped with how to make it all flow while also maximizing use of each space. Amazingly Sarah was able to fully capture our vision as well as open our minds to a more fresh modern version of our initial preferences. Sarah truly cared about us as people and as clients. She wanted to push the envelope but while making sure we were comfortable with her choices along the way. In the end, not only do we love the end result (and constantly get compliments) but I feel like Sarah helped update our personal style from stuck-in-our-20s to more modern sophistication. Her initial presence in designing a majority of our first floor has resonated in our selections throughout the rest of our home. I worked with Sarah on interior renderings of the first floor of my home in May 2020 and she did an excellent job. I live in a very compact, three story home in Los Angeles, and let's just say our first floor layout is a bit of a disaster. She was able to help us navigate where to put our furniture in a way that helped create a modern, sleek space. She was always quick with suggestions for small upgrades and furniture, which was great. Living in NYC has its challenges, especially if you’re someone like me who has a lot of stuff and uses their apartment for work. Sarah helped me create a stylish space that is also functional. For years I had been pushing furniture around trying to make things fit that weren’t working and was constantly feeling stressed and overwhelmed. It was great having a professional involved who understands space. I love her aesthetic, which was adapted to fit my taste of fresh laid back Cali with pops of bold colors and textures. As an Artist and Cali transplant creating an interesting living environment ideal for entertaining that is also calming was really important to me. Sarah is patient, kind and very proactive which was important since this was my first time using a decorator. I’m so happy I found her when I did because shortly after we finished the remodeling the Covid lockdown went into effect and I don’t know how I would have coped without the improvements. We updated the kitchen by adding a beautiful backsplash which is inviting and actually makes me want to use my tiny kitchen. Transformed an awful built-in unit in the living room to a simple clean media center. The bedroom which originally looked like a dorm room is now a sophisticated and lavish Mecca featuring a gorgeous chandelier, his/hers wardrobe system and a much needed vanity. My most prized home improvement is the custom desk and display unit in the entry way where I can realize all my artistic fantasies.

Our situation was that we had no vision how to give our living room and dining room areas a much-needed facelift, except wanting a transitional style blending traditional and modern tastes. We contacted Sarah because Sarah designed a friend’s living room, and we liked the finished product. Sarah was able to transform our shallow living space into an airy, bright, open area that looks fresh, impressive, and welcoming. There is a tasteful combination of color and styles giving the space the interesting design we wanted. Sarah was always accessible to our phone calls and text messages, and project managed the contractors to ensure all details were done correctly. She provided several layout options in CAD for us to choose from, and worked with her vendors for material and furnishing proposals and ordering. We are pleasantly surprised, and somewhat amused that our post-war home looks so sleek and expansive. We definitely recommend Sarah as an interior designer. We are pleased with the outcome of her work, and the professional manner she performed her services, all accomplished without breaking the bank.
