Channel Custom Builders

This is the second major home renovation we have completed with Channel Custom Builders. The first was ~23 years ago, so we were pleased to see that Martin and company were still in business and after our initial discussion with Martin and Spencer, we decided to use them again. This reno involved a ground floor addition to our living room, removal of interior walls, new windows/doors and a complete kitchen remodel. Channel worked closely with us to understand our requirements and developed a detailed plan which included a line-by-line budget, engineered drawings and a detailed timeline. Channel has cultivated strong, long term, working relationships with their trades and we found them all to be professional and respectful of our home. The project was initially scheduled to take 4 months and even with the supply chain disruptions due to covid we were only a few weeks longer than planned. As with any major renovation there were a few issues that needed to be addressed and these were rectified immediately with no push back. In addition, any changes that we made during construction were incorporated with minimal impact on the project. Overall, we are very pleased with the end product. Martin and his team have a great company and we would recommend Channel to any of our family and friends.

We have just finished our fourth home renovation over the last 10+ years with Martin and Channel Custom Builders. As has been the case with every home renovation we could not be happier! The renovations have included basement upgrading, a complete exterior renovation with all new widows, stone tile and cedar pergola, multiple bathroom redesigns and the latest a stunning kitchen and butlers suite development. Ever project has been completed on time, at or under budget and most importantly with no issues of any kind! Spencer has been involved in the last two projects and the scheduling calendar he provides is quite simply one of the best project management information detail I have ever seen. Along with the outstanding execution of the project, their design knowledge is so good that we rarely suggest any changes or additions. Karen and I highly recommend Channel and as we would not consider using anyone else, we are currently doing a renovation in our daughters condo!

This is the second time that we’ve the pleasure to work with Channel Builders. Martin and his team are fantastic. The projects we have done, including the most recent indoor gas fireplace project, was managed with a professional prebuild plan, budget, and timeline that you would only expect on larger full renovation or new build. All little details and costs were covered with no surprises. In both projects we changed scope and it was clearly laid out how the decision would impact cost and schedule and we both agreed to the change order. The job site was maintained tidy throughout the project including consideration for securing areas and accommodation for our pet and children. You hear and see many horror stories on the trades skipping a couple steps but not here, Channel’s partnership with top trades will leave you with a finished project that you are proud to show off. It is all the little details that give us a great deal of confidence in using Channel Builders and highly recommending them to others.

Channel Custom Builders exceeded our expectations on our carport conversion project. We entrusted them to manage the major project of converting our carport into a new entryway and bedroom. All details of the project were thought of and timelined prior to the project even commencing. We were impressed with Martin and Spencer’s attention to detail, noticing items that needed repair that we wouldn’t have even noted. We also appreciated that the site was inspected daily and kept as neat as possible. The trades they brought in were highly skilled and courteous. The management of this project by Channel Custom Builders made it possible to live in our home during the renovation with minimal disruption. We would not hesitate to recommend Channel Custom Builders for any renovation project.

We did our very first renovation a few years ago and I was constantly told as I was going through the process of choosing a general contractor that there will always be significant delays in the timelines proposed and the budget would always over exceed. I was pleasantly surprised when Martin and Co not only completed the renovation in a timely fashion, as well as within budget. Throughout the process, Martin was very helpful with his experienced advice on not only the technical aspects of the renovation, but also the aesthetic aspects. Even today, as I hear my friends talk about their renovation nightmares, I am amazed at how stress less mine was.

Channel Custom Builders just completed a full renovation of our en-suite bathroom and a partial, but still significant, renovation of our main bathroom. After 25 years new life as well as a beautiful new look now exists in both. We could not be more pleased with the end result of the professional work carried out in both rooms. The project was extremely well managed by Channel Custom Builders (owned and managed by Martin Kathrens) from start to finish and the construction schedule was adhered to without any delays. The degree of detailed inspection during the entire duration of each and every stage of construction was extremely thorough, thus ensuring a high quality of workmanship by all trades involved. As the home owners, my wife and I were always kept informed of what was happening with respect to construction plans and the few minor resolvable issues that arose. All parties involved were always receptive to any questions or concerns that came about and the lines of communication were always open. Along with extending our sincere thanks and appreciation to Martin Kathrens we would also like to congratulate and extend the same thanks and appreciation to Spencer Kathrens for his excellent project management handling of our renovation. To both we say “A job extremely well done”. We have just recently finished a guest bathroom renovation with Spencer and Channel Custom Builders and not only did he make our dream bathroom become a reality, but it was also completed within the exact timeline we were provided with and on budget! This is all any home owner could ask for when hiring a contractor. This is not our first renovation with Channel Custom Builders either!
