Worked with Derek and his team for a kitchen and bathroom remodel. This was my first remodel and I was a bit nervous because you hear so many horror stories regarding the estimated cost/time being extended or contractors being less than honest. Happy to say that this was not the case with Derek and his team. He provided and estimate for completion/cost and was right on the money. Even with a few changes that I added, he was still able to complete the remodel within the estimated time with great workmanship. Also, no mysterious costs that came out of nowhere. In addition, he was very easy to communicate with which i considered invaluable for a remodel project. I would text him or call him multiple days a day over the course of the remodel and he responded to every single question and concern. Even meeting me at my house a few times after working on another project to walk me through questions/concerns I had. And to top it off, two years after the project was completed I had a leaky roof

Finding a good contractor is always a challenge, but working with Dan and the Custom Home team was the best decision I could have made. I hired him for a full home remodeling of kitchen, bathrooms and even removing and setting new walls for an open concept living and dining area. I walked away extremely impressed with Dan’s professionalism along with his support for his customers. He took the time explained the process, provide design suggestions and always had a solution when something unexpected came up and trust me it will. Dan our contractor from Custom Homes is very knowledgeable about constructions. He has a very good taste for upscale, high-end homes. He is sincere with his recommendations and suggestions and he has good taste for quality and features. He is easy to work with. Like all constructions we had encountered a few unexpected delays and a few extra charges for hidden dry rot damages. We knew Dan for several years - he helped us renovate our previous house in San Jose that we sold. We bought an old 1500 SF house in San Mateo and remodeled it and added 700SF, one bedroom and one bath room. The floor layout was completely changed - only few exterior walls remained, all electrical, plumbing sewer, insulation, drywall, windows, doors, floor, roof, HVAC ducts were removed. He was responsible for everything - demolition, new foundations, framing, installing new windows and doors, insulation, drywall, stucco, kitchen, bathrooms, hardwood floor, painting interior and exterior. We removed some of the roof frames and added new trusses. He installed a new 50 years Presidential TL composition shingles roof. Completely new 200 Amps electrical wiring, plumbing with sewer lines for the entire house. New larger gas line for tankless water heater. Added 220 V in the garage for EV charger outlet. His crew were very skillful, their carpentry works are very refined and good quality – the crown molding and base boards came out very nice and elegant. He uses good quality materials. We are very satisfied and happy with the finished product. I would hire him for another project.
