This company just finished a major residential building renovation in Cochrane. The workmanship from start to finish was a disaster. I wish I could post photos as a warning. Contractors cut corners with each project. In the end, the project took far too long as numerous aspects of the work had to be redone. Run away from this company!

We recently had the pleasure of working with Ed and Sara from Fire Ant for the second time on a large-scale renovation project, and once again they exceeded our expectations. From start to finish, the team was a pleasure to work with and I cannot recommend them highly enough. Rick, the renovation designer, really took the time to listen to our needs and preferences, and created a beautiful design that perfectly matched our vision – honestly it exceeded what we could even imagine. Max, the project manager, was also phenomenal. He was always on top of things and kept us informed throughout the entire project. He was also very patient with our questions and concerns, and always had an answer for us. The sub-trades that Fire Ant has relationships with were also top notch. They were courteous, professional, and respectful of our home. They really went above and beyond to ensure that the project was completed on time and on budget. The attention to detail was second to none, and the quality of the finish was absolutely outstanding. One thing that I really appreciated about working with Fire Ant was their direct line of communication via group text message. If we ever had any questions or concerns, we were able to reach out to them and get a quick response. This really helped to put our minds at ease and made the entire renovation process much less stressful. Overall, I could not be happier with the work that Fire Ant did on our home. They are a truly exceptional renovation and construction company, and I would highly recommend them to anyone looking to take on a large scale renovation project. Extremely dissatisfied with every aspect of this company! The only positive thing we can say is that Ed is a cunning salesman. He said “we are not inexpensive but you will be happy”. They were contracted to demo and redo 2 bathrooms in our house. No plumbing moves, just tear out and replace. Very little work was done without incident or damage to our mid-century house: A few examples: -During demo they were grinding down the tile floor cement without dust containment or PPE. Totally against OHS regs and leaving cement dust all over. (note: we stopped the work at this point and talked with Ed Bushnell who promised us that this was an anomaly and that he would be in contact with us regularly to ensure everything was going well. He never spoke to us again) -The drywall delivery guys took two big chunks out of the ceiling in the stairwell as well as from the stucco archway on our front porch. Repair of the ceilings was ghastly! They never mentioned the stucco damage. The work by trades was done poorly: A few examples: -The demolition crew removed a toilet without undoing the securing bolts. This broke the flange, replacement of which will require removal of hardwood flooring and subfloor – a disaster! -The plumber installed an alcove bathtub without proper support and used screws which cracked the flange. -Much of the electrical rough-in had to be redone to meet code. -The wallboarders damaged woodwork, used the wrong screws for both backerboard and cement board in the steam shower and bath. Plumbing valves (closed) were walled over. (no communication between trades, or proper oversight to prevent this sort of thing from happening) None of these issues were mentioned by Fire Ant until we brought them up. Those that they tried to fix were not done well. We have parted ways and are now left to clean up the mess! Yes, we could have continued to work with them to rectify these issues, but quite frankly we lost trust in them to do it well. We had already worked with them for months and the end was not in sight! One would think that, having been in business for 15 years with many of the same staff that they would know how to do thing right the first time, without redos, damage and fixes.

Did a great job restoring my house from a leak. Wet drywall and insulation, Cabinet and baseboard MDF removal was done professionally. The place was tidied up afterwards and the workers were both respectful and trustworthy.

Fire Ant is your hands down your best choice for home improvement and renovation. A wonderfully helpful team which will get your job done: Edward and Sara are your go-to contracting team! Max is a wonder! 1) on time (seriously to the day) 2) on budget (to the cent) 3) address any concerns you may and are very consultative, no pressure and most thorough. We have had Fire Ant renovate our: kitchen, bathroom, replace windows. Reliable and just really great people. Team of contractors will get it done and you will be very happy!

We hired Fire Ant to renovate the entire main floor of our home. From the very first consult to the finish date all contact with them was courtious, professional, and efficient. First off, the work they did was amazing, high quality, professional workmanship. Secondly, this was a 3 month reno and we live in a cul de saq. You would immediately think of the issues you would have with your neighbors. Every single one of our neighbors went out of their way to tell us how curtious and pleasant all of Fire Ant employees and trades were regarding parking, noise, and cleanliness. Lastly, the finished product. In one word, perfect! The job was on time, on budget, and beautiful. They adapted every step of the way to make sure that we were happy and didn't consider a step complete until it was exactly what we wanted. Not only would I recommend this team, I promise you that I will be using them again.
