Roofers & Gutter Installation Companies Near Berkeley

“My solar contractor and longtime friend, Kevin Goode of SunsFreeSolar.com, is the one who pointed me toward Kasra and Sustainable Roofing Solutions. Kevin knows Kasra through community and has been aware of SRS’s green building and roofing efforts over decades. He suggested we pair my solar install with a full restoration of my asphalt shingle roof, which was pushing 25 years old and showing it. What sold me was the math. Full replacement would have cost me way more than double, and Kasra walked me through exactly why: restoration keeps the structurally sound parts of the roof intact (pretty much everything as a foundation for the full restoration…) instead of tearing everything out and starting over. He estimates the annual savings land around 20%, and very likely a considerable amount more if you have an existing pv system (considering an arm and a leg that it would cost to remove and replace that system in the case of full roof replacement). On top of the core restoration, he added ventilation units I never had before and put gutter guards exactly where my roof actually needed them, not just wherever's standard. All in, I came out probably a minimum of $10,000 but really way closer to $15,000 ahead of what a full tear-off and replacement would have run me. Kasra's been doing this for over 25 years now, and it shows in how he talks about it. He's pretty blunt about why restoration isn't the industry default. Roofing companies and their suppliers make more money pushing full replacements, so that's what gets pushed. Meanwhile restoration does right by both the homeowner's wallet and the environment. Having gone through it myself, as unbelievable as it can seem, I can't argue with Kasra. If you're facing a roof decision, do yourself a favor and call SRS before you assume replacement is your only option. Between the savings and the quality of the work, it's hard to imagine going any other route.”
