Inspiration for a large timeless porch remodel in Boston with a roof extension

The covered lounge and entertainment area adjacent to the home includes a seating area, hearth and tv. The soaring wood veneer ceiling is in contrast to the Travertine tile floor surfaces that ties in the color scheme of the entire indoor-outdoor space. Photo by Jimi Smith Photography.

The living room has a built-in media niche. The cabinet doors are paneled in white to match the walls while the top is a natural live edge in Monkey Pod wood. The feature wall was highlighted by the use of modular arts in the same color as the walls but with a texture reminiscent of ripples on water. On either side of the TV hang a cluster of wooden pendants. The paneled walls and ceiling are painted white creating a seamless design. The teak glass sliding doors pocket into the walls creating an indoor-outdoor space. The great room is decorated in blues, greens and whites, with a jute rug on the floor, a solid log coffee table, slip covered white sofa, and custom blue and green throw pillows.

Mountain style porch idea in Dallas with a roof extension and a fire pit

The Master Bedroom continues the theme of cool and warm, this time using all whites and neutrals and mixing in even more natural elements like seagrass, rattan, and greenery. The showstopper is the stained wood ceiling with an intricate yet modern geometric pattern. The master has retractable glass doors separating it and its private lanai.

This family wanted a contemporary structure that blended natural elements with with grays and blues. This is a unique structure that turned out beautifully. We went with powder coated 6x6 steel posts hiding all of the base and top plates creating a seamless transition between the structure and travertine flooring. Due to limitations on spacing we added a built-in granite table with matching powder coated steel frame. This created a unique look and practical application for dining seating. By adding a knee wall with cedar slats it created an intimate nook while keeping everything open. The modern fireplace and split style kitchen created a great use of space without making if feel crowded. At the far end of the deck, a three season room was added off of the living room, providing a shady respite for dining and relaxing. This room features built in cabinetry to store off season screens or glass panels, as well as outdoor dining wear. A Douglas Fir ceiling is finished with a marine varnish for a nautical look. This cozy, yet gorgeous space added over 310 square feet of outdoor living space and has been in the works for several years. The home had a small covered space that was just not big enough for what the family wanted and needed. They desired a larger space to be able to entertain outdoors in style. With the additional square footage came more concrete and a patio cover to match the original roof line of the home. Brick to match the home was used on the new columns with cedar wrapped posts and the large custom wood burning fireplace that was built. The fireplace has built-in wood holders and a reclaimed beam as the mantle. Low voltage lighting was installed to accent the large hearth that also serves as a seat wall. A privacy wall of stained shiplap was installed behind the grill – an EVO 30” ceramic top griddle. The counter is a wood to accent the other aspects of the project. The ceiling is pre-stained tongue and groove with cedar beams. The flooring is a stained stamped concrete without a pattern.
