As an interior designer, I have worked with a variety of builders over the years. I am always impressed with the speed at which they take the client’s dreams and turn it into a Home. I am currently working on a project with them in the Pacific Palisades. The clients will be one of the first homeowners returning to the neighborhood with a completed home. They are also one of the few builders that offers an interior designer to help homeowners make selections and move the project along at a faster pace.

Mike's team made a full kitchen remodel—including a reconfiguration —feel effortless from start to finish. The bid came in right on budget, and there were no surprise costs or delays along the way. We did a complete gut remodel on a 1928 house, and trusted Mike & Addition Building and Design with the project. They knocked it out of the park. Mike is a no-nonsense contractor - he was quick to come by for an estimate, and gave us very competitive pricing. We appreciated Mike's transparency as well. Unlike a lot of companies that ask you to pay $2-3k for them to draw up some plans before even giving you quotes for a scope of work, Mike had a detailed breakdown of costs in our hands for every element of the project, within a week of his visit to the property. About the job itself - Mike's core crew of builders are incredibly professional and do great work. And all the subs he uses for tile, flooring, cabinetry, countertops, plumbing and electric are top of class. We had lots of people from different trades coming and going from the property during renovations, and people from other trades would comment on the quality of the drywall work, the plaster, the tile, etc. I can't stress enough the craftsmanship these people brought to the job, and they did a gorgeous job incorporating the historical details and architecture of our house with the new modern elements. Finally, every time we had questions about any part of the process, Mike was available by phone or text to guide us through any concerns, from design to construction to permitting, and he stopped by the property at least once a week to check on the work and review progress with us. His years of experience are evident. Finally: Mike's team got this job done in record time, and when he promised us three months to completion, he came through. The project did go a little longer than initially quoted, but that's because we added a few extras onto the project after seeing what a nice job his team was doing. We wouldn't hesitate to use Addition Building & Design again - and would wholeheartedly recommend hiring them for your job. You'll be in good hands.

I first discovered Mike when my daughter hired him to completely remodel her newly purchased Bel Air home. It was perfection and could have been in architecture digest. Then her in-laws used him to completely makeover their new Beverly Hills condo. Another triumph! Around that time I wanted to change my kitchen in my main house and Mike accomplished that perfectly with reconfiguring and adding cabinets and a much needed Miele refrigerator to help with the pandemic hoarding. I was beyond happy with my kitchen and still am. So it was a no brainer when I decided to make my Guest house a legal ADU. Mike attained all the necessary permits and now we are in the process of the renovation. I've had the pleasure of working with Mike on many projects over many years. Addition Building & Dessign, Inc built my big house with over 6000 square feet, four garage bays, and the biggest party room you'd ever seen. With all my heart I recommend Addition Building & Design. I had made the mistake of hiring a handyman to build a fireplace who didnt know what he was doing. I called every contractor and fireplace repair company I could to see about fixing the defective chimney. Everyone said that it needed to be demo'd, but not Mike Ross. Mike is a creative person who is also extremely capable. He had his crew over and they fixed the chimney with no problem at all and the fireplace worked great. Not only was the result excellent, but Mike and his team did what they said they would and showed up on time and were very pleasant.

I live in a small, older house that isn't easy to work on (not a plumb line in the place!). Mike understands my often incoherent descriptions and makes sense of my indecipherable sketches. We had an old bathroom that needed upgrading . It also had a number of repairs that needed to be addressed. My son was pleased with the work that ABD IMAP on his home remodel so I decided to use them as well. We are pleased with the outcome. The craftsmen that worked on our project were not only professional but their workmanship was meticulous. They thought through measurements and complex designs to deliver a quality product. Jose, the foreman kept me informed throughout the process of what was completed and what needed to be done. They let me know when they would be at my home so that I could plan my schedule accordingly. Finally, they cleaned up their areas daily leaving minimal disruption. We installed a hanging toilet and a hanging vanity to maximize space a facilitate cleanup. The shower used subway tile with a mirror niche. I wanted a clean, streamlined look so I chose white for tiles and walls. Colors would be provided by towels, rugs and accessories. As a matter of fact, we want to open up our living room area and we will be hiring Mike for phase 2.

I hired Mike and his team for work at my house which was built in the 50's. The work included updating the kitchen and one of the bathrooms as well as insulation and weather proofing, paint and many other little things. We also needed to update the yard and the area around the pool that was cracking. We have lots of room in the back and on a hill that is unused mostly and also wanted to see if we can add some storage place outside. our work required many different trades and expertise. Mike was very thorough in making sure that all the details were taken into account and I was very impressed with the coordination and the people he has at his disposal to be able to do different aspects of the work. During the project, I received on going updates from the office about scheduling and what will happen and I could always call and get answers to my questions. The work was great! high quality and clean and I love my updated kitchen! It is still the same size (small) but so much more comfortable to work in. The materials Mike used are great and live up to his promise of easy cleaning and durability. With the new insulation, the AC is effective! We hired Mike on to do a major remodeling of a new house, and we are very happy with the results. The job included kitchen, bathroom, new floors throughout the house, converting a crawlspace into a storage area, and just about everything else you could think of from plumbing to electrical. Mike cares about the results of his projects, and was at our house every day (we were not living there yet) to check on the progress and met with us weekly. He used the BuilderTrend app to post photos of the progress. If something wasn't to his standard, he would have the workers do it again. All of the workers and subcontractors I interacted with were very friendly and helpful. I never felt nickel and dimed, and there were a number of issues that popped up during the remodel that Mike solved for us without extra charge. I never had a hard time reaching him or his office. Remodeling is stressful under any circumstances, but it helps a lot to have a contractor who you trust to listen to your needs and get everything done.

And yet, 5 stars don't do justice to the tremendous work that Mike Ross and his team at Addition Building have done for us. Everyone at Addition repeatedly went beyond the call of duty on our project. Based on past experience, I was just hoping to find someone who would do what they said they would, but with Addition we got so much more. Everyone person was friendly, courteous, and skilled in their work. The quality of the work was tremendous and on the rare occasions where something wasn't done quite the way we wanted it, not only were they willing to redo the work - they were already planning to redo the work by the time they heard from us. These guys also taught us a ton about caring for our own home in the future (and not just how to care for the work they had done). Finally, on the financial side, Addition's bid was competitive with the other bids we got. What really surprised us is that the work promised did not cost a penny more than the bid. In terms of the people you'll be seeing with Addition - Mike runs the show and depending on the phase of the project he was at our house anywhere from everyday to a few times a week. But he also has a project manager who is onsite everyday and then a set of teams that come through (demolition, painting, floors, electrical) who are all outstanding. We've found the only contractor that we'll use in the future.

Having purchased our first house in Valley Glen, North Hollywood, we were aware it was in need of serious remodeling. A 1950s Ranch-style home, it came complete with peeling wallpaper, musty carpeting, and even some dilapidated walls. As first-time homeowners we were prepared to spend more money to improve it, but weary when we began meeting contractors. Buyer’s remorse already set in when we interviewed several contractors who were either aloof or unscrupulous. Then we were fortunate enough to find Mike Ross. He immediately allayed our stress with his professional and forthright demeanor and his integrity was as rock solid from the day we met him through the several months it took to complete our large renovation. While we had some specific things we wanted in our house, Mike and his team took our wish list and far exceeded our expectations to help truly realize the vision of our dream. Originally a three-bedroom, fourteen-hundred square foot home, our remodel brought an addition of a thousand square feet as well as an overhaul of the landscape; this prospect was particularly daunting for uninitiated owners such as us, but Mike’s consummate professionalism shone through and made the task exponentially less stressful for us. Having been home owners for more than 30 years, we've had our share of renovation and reconstruction. Wow, I wish we had known about Addition earlier. Mike Ross went over every detail, discussed options, gave recommendations and worked with us on our requirements. We live in an old house for the area and it has its issues. Mike had excellent solutions for some of our unique requirements. His team was on time, extraordinarily skilled and detail-oriented. They were fast, but not rushed, and incredibly polite. And they thought on their feet: when something that we thought would work turned out to not be feasible, they came up with an excellent alternative. And once they were finished, except for the excellent work they left behind, the cleanup was so thorough, you would never know they were there.

We hired Mike Ross & Co. to completely overhaul 3 bathrooms and our family room in our 1920’s Hancock Park/Larchmont Spanish Revival. The previous owners had “updated” it into a 90’s mess. Bad wallpaper, failed walls, horrible home depot bathrooms… Mike was there at 8am with his crew the day after we closed escrow. All of his workers were polite, clean and very respectful. They got to work immediately and never skipped a beat. He was fair on every single aspect of the job. We had a 7600 sq ft custom home built from scratch by his company. Mike ran the project like a 100 seat symphony and orchestrated all the trades in perfect harmony. In 30 plus years of homeownership, we have completed many major projects on different homes. Mike Ross CEO of Addition Building & Design and his subcontractors surpassed our expectations. We have just completed a major remodel of a second floor master bedroom and bathroom with Mike. Taking a personal interest in each project and client, Mike is respectful of budget constraints and very creative. We are type “A”, extremely demanding, and impatient clients. Mike demonstrated the wherewithal to calmly handle every aspect of the project and respond to requests. Mike and the subs are on the job six days a week and met with us as early as 6:15 in the morning to accommodate our work schedules. Sometimes he was on site two or three times a day. He came up with some very creative ideas to enlarge the space and bring a light airy feeling to the rooms. I casually mentioned the need for extra closet space. Through Mike's creativity and persistence, my closet has more than doubled in size and the bathroom and closet have both electric and solar light. From dawn to dusk, there is virtually no need for electricity, even for aging baby boomers with poor eyesight. Mike's subs are outstanding, respectful of your home and belongings, and leave the workspace clean. While Mike has outstanding resources, weekly emails laid out the daily plan and were followed by daily confirmations. As a result, there was not one down day without a sub on the job. We felt so comfortable with Mike and his subs that we left them with a key for two long weekends. During one weekend, they completed hardwood floors, rewired telephones and televisions, painted three rooms, hallways and left the house spotless. His subs have tremendous respect for his work ethic and professionalism. Everything was completed in a timely manner with great attention to detail. We would use Mike again in a heartbeat. We would like to recognize the outstanding, honest and meticulous work of the sub-contractors- Tom, Miguel, Roman, Uncle Steve, Gonzalo, Jose, Raff, Manny, Steve, and Plumber Mike. It's impossible to say too many good things about Mike's work. First of all, I'm a single female looking for someone to do a room addition. I had interviewed about 8 other contractors before Mike, and they all gave me the same one page estimate with vague answers to my questions. I had no idea what they were agreeing to do or even what they really thought the final cost would be. Mike, on the other hand, gave me a detailed proposal which included: an estimated cost of the entire project; a projected weekly work schedule (ex: week 1 & 2 - foundation and framing; week 3 & 4 - rough in electrical, HVAC and roofing completed, etc.); he then itemized the payments he needed from me (ex: $8000 to start the work; $8000 when foundation and framing were completed, etc.). His workers were efficient, friendly and easy to talk to and they cleaned up the work site every day. Mike kept me informed about when the city inspector would be coming and the results of his inspection (it was always good). Mike is also polite and easy to work with. I never had the feeling he was trying to "pull a fast one" or to "squeeze" one more dollar out of me, and, in fact, he always just the opposite. I will definitely use Mike again, and would not hesitate to recommend him to anyone.
