Need a Kitchen Pantry!

We have a home that was built in 1947, so the kitchen is not open concept and it's a bit small. The kitchen is considered an eat-in and it's a separate room. We moved in September 2013, so have been not even been in the home a year. There is a corner of the room where a two person table fits nicely next to a sliding glass door that leads to the back yard and deck. We recently remodeled the kitchen which made it more functional, but we lost a little bit of cabinet storage. We were possibly going to add a built-in pantry to the eat-in area during the remodel, but decided against it so as not to lose the eat-in capability for aesthetic reasons and for resale value when we eventually move from the house (though that is not going to happen anytime soon). But right now, there is an open wood shelf in that corner holding dishes, nice pots and a few food items. It is dusty and not working!!! We have been looking for a hutch - that could possibly work as a pantry, but they are mostly too deep for the wall and have glass doors which we don't prefer. For functional reasons, we would really rather have a big closed pantry to store all our food items but that is hard to find in a hutch. We are leaning toward getting the built-in pantry after all - hoping the company who remodeled our kitchen would be willing to come back. We have one child, and need more food/pot storage space. We are afraid the big built-in might look unsightly!! Do people think a hutch is better or the built-in? Help! Any ideas!?!
