Granite Crack Advice Needed!

We just had 2cm bianco romano granite (with supporting plywood) installed. It has an additional laminated granite edge glued on to it to make it appear thicker (a line where the materials were glued is visible). The problem is there is a very obvious crack running along the piece in front of the sink, from the sink, along the top, through the glued edge and underneath as far as I can feel. Installer is claiming it's a fissure but I do not understand how a fissure could go between two separate pieces of granite that were glued together. It appears obvious to me that this cracked either during transportation or installation. The matter is further complicated because the contractor says if we have it replaced (although he has not stated they are willing to do this yet) the removal of the counters could damage the new cabinets (which took 8 weeks to get to us the first time). So even if they agree to replace it, we are without a kitchen for probably 2 more months! Any advice is appreciated!
