I agree- this kitchen looks great as is. What do you really want to change about it?

Keep layout,cabinets and outer countertops. Add a new floor,backsplash and maybe island countertop. It's actually a great space:)

Ok just saw second picture. Definitely remove microwave stand and put in kitchen on cabinet.

the only thing i notice is that the microwave is not even in the kitchen....if i was going to change anything, i would put in a beefier island, that could also house the microwave, i see you have power run to the island so this could be a good change up. I notice it could use a new back splash too. a couple cans, and 3 pendants would be nice too.

Agree with flair lighting. Also, tidy the counters using a couple of trays to contain everyday items and put things that are really attractive in the glass uppers. New window treatment, maybe a roman shade, and either some really pretty rugs to coordinate with the family room, or omit them altogether. I know it's useful, but garbage cans on display aren't pretty. Try using a small one under the sink and see if you can get used to it.

Great idea on pendant lighting on island.

This kitchen is 15 years old. When I picked black countertops, our builder did not like my selection :)

The countertops are laminate and are wearing out.

I want to go with granite counter tops and new back splash !
Please advice on color options.

I was also thinking about making a u shaped kitchen and use a cart in place of center island which I can push to the wall when I have company..

I also have a 6 ft wide empty wall opposite to my island. So, thinking of adding more cabinets there..

The size of the kitchen is 20x12 and it opens into a family room of 20x15.

I would try turning the table the other direction.

this is what I have done few years ago and I realized I never posted the after picture. I enjoyed the kitchen thoroughly for a year and we sold the house in 2016.
