They do look a little skimpy compared to the picture above. I wouldn't be happy with them either. Take them down over the patio door - it looks like they may get in the way of opening the door.

Frankly speaking they don't really belong with the sheer window covering that you have on the first photo then there are Venetian blinds and then sheers ,remove the swags and stick with one design only .

I assume that you just paid for these swags and that you want to make them work in the room? Ask the company that made them/installed them if there is a way they can be modified so that the tops are straight across making them fuller.

Here's a photo of a treatment that I made. At each medallion, I included a jabot. That helps conceal the top of the trim and fills out the treatment a bit more.

I would try to paint the wall around the window with one dark color from your swag (better yet if it's same color with one on your rug) to see whether that will make the swag look fuller.

I wonder if the company would give you some sort of an adjustment or exchange. That's a lot of money and I think you should let them know you are not happy. A good company wants to keep good will with its customers. There is a very high markup on these items so they aren't going to be out a lot of money by making you happy.

The company could probably modify them so they are straight across or a good seamstress could do so. You could consider removing the swags from the sliding door, as there is a lot of drapery for the size of the room and with the curtains being less prominent, you may be ok with them as is. That fabric could be cut/reshaped to be used as a runner on the dining table (as you need something on it anyway). For $1,300 I wouldn't not use them. They aren't that bad if you like swags (sorry, I don't). In a couple of years you may want to change them to something different anyway, as we all get tired of our styles.

I agree, if you are not happy with them, get in touch with company and see what they say.
Did they show you pics of how they do swags before you ordered them?

My opinion is that more contemporary interiors, especially with lower ceilings like yours, look much better with less fussy window coverings. Think nice wood blinds, simple duette shades or clean lined fabric roman shades. They make the space look larger. The more ornate window treatments (swags, cornices, valances, etc.) look good in older houses with high ceilings, crown moldings, etc.

That type of swag treatment is a little dated and fussy looking. Yes, move them to a bedroom. Then your money isn't wasted.

All of the windows including sliding door should have the same window treatments. Either all blinds or all sheers.

I got them through an interior designer , I made it clear I am not talented in that area , I admit I said swags but if she had said that didn't match the room I would have totally let her take charge.. Bummer .. The whole point of hiring a professional was getting professional work so sad almost wanna cry

It really is ashamed that you have spent all this money and not be satisfied of your new window coverings , I like when I get honest opinions on things not the usual "that's nice "
So now you are sort of stuck with them unless you could use them elsewhere . looking at the room and its furniture I don't know why she just couldn't have said to you, you need another style for this room . If you can remove them and put them way for later I understand that it would be a huge decision to make , and frankly I rather just see something a little more modern ,light and not theatrical in your home .

Call the designer and let her/him know of your disappointment. Anyone worth her salt would be talented enough to come up with a creative re-do or other solution.

I agree with above poster who recommended painting the walls with a darker color pulled from the swags. It's hard to tell what color they are in the dark pictures, but i feel theres too much contrast between them and the walls. They might look more substantial if the blended into the walls. I'm also not crazy about the mismatched and more contemporary shade treatments on the windows and patio door. Did the designer sell you those too? I thinks that's adding into the feeling that the whole look isn't working quite right. Instead of the short shades could you try sheer floor length panels?
