I'd love a black and white floor, maybe checkerboard pattern, in my small 8x12 foot kitchen. But the designer at my local flooring store says it will make my kitchen look even smaller. I'm going for a vintage, cottage look, replacing cream cabinets with white IKEA bead board ones, a white quartz countertop, white subway tile backsplash with grey grout and white appliances. Black under mount sink, black hardware. Should I go with my black and white floor idea or something else? Here is a 'before' picture.
