I don't see a problem with dark gray furniture and a dark brown coffee table. For a carpet, I would choose something lighter so that you have some contrast.

With a coffee table that dark, you'd definitely need an off white rug if you chose to get a black sofa. So if a white rug doesn't appeal to you, I suggest you choose the cream colored sofa.

Thx Carolyn I have decided to buy the grey loung suite and I am going to re cover the dining room chairs possibly red with speck of grey if I can find the material..also bought a very light silver grey carpet ...I want to paint my walls can you recommend a colour please..I was thinking of painting it a similar colour to the lounge suite ( but not all the wals maybe the main future wall behind the big three seater couch..my lounge suite is the same colour as the picture you sent me first..any advice on colour wall please.

Paint the accent wall black and the others white. If you're hesitant about the black, then choose a charcoal gray.
