Turn of the Century Kitchen Remodel

I re-used the old leaded glass in the new cabinetry. We pushed a load bearing wall back about three feet, which allowed space for a small island. We cleaned up the brickwork and added new professional grade appliances.

Beautiful. Looks like your island isn't overwhelming - I like that. Looks neat and plenty large for cooking.

Looks wonderful! I would love to know more about the brick backsplash, especially behind the cooktop. We are considering something similar for a lakehouse kitchen remiodel. What kind of condition was the brick in originally in terms of stains and splashes from cooking? Did you seal it after you cleaned it up? Any feedback and advice would be greatly appreciated.

The original brick required a little touch up work. We brought in a good mason and had him perform some cosmetic and repair work on the wall. After that was complete, he sealed it. So far the wall still looks good!
