Cute in the picture or in a kid's room. In a real life adult room it would look junky.

Actually it depends on the style of the frame color of the frame, content of the photo and what the rest of the area looks like. But that is true of any frame.

What you have pictured, seems like it is a fun room. Therefore, colored pictured frames would be totally acceptable in this instance. There is nothing wrong with a pop of color.

I want every room in my house to be a fun room, so thumbs up for colored frames! I recently bought several at a secondhand market … reds, blues, yellows, teals … some came with art but I need to find the right prints to put in the others.

It would work better with crisp white walls. I assume you are hanging the pictures. I like the art work and family photos. May I suggest you look for tag sale or goodwill frames that are bigger.. 11 X 14 too? Print photos of important milestones or moments in your children's lives and hang them. Over the years you will walk into their bedroom with a load of laundry and marvel at how young they use to be!

Definitely use colored frames if it works with the décor. I prefer to limit it to one color for unification.

Nay.... If lots of photos, etc., are your style then I would stick with one theme... An assortment of glass frames, silver (chrome, silver etc), if stained wood I would prefer all the same style, or black is always good, but again, I'd stay to the exact same frame albeit in different sizes.. Large frames with matting to 'show-off' the subject. Also, don't spread out across the whole surface. Congregate them together so they become a 'Collection' to draw your eye rather than looking like 'clutter'. Hope this inspires you!

In my last house I had only white frames, different Styles and shapes and sizes. Grew tired of that look. I gave all of them away when I moved to the current house. This time I have two cabinets filled with photos in my den. I started collecting jay strongwater

jay strong water frames are very expensive. I started out with silver and gold tones.
Friends and relatives added a few colors as gifts. Then I just bought other frames with different colors, just ones that I liked a lot. I would not be able to change this look easily because of the investment I made buying such high end pieces. I still like the pop of color they provide in the room. So far I am still happy with the look. But I have learned a lesson.......do not buy frames that are that expensive! It isn't worth it because
You are really stuck with them! I have been disappointed in the quality of these frames as well. Just go to tjmaxx and get ones you like , whether it is all one color or you mix it up. Most likely sticking to one neutral color is safest way to go!

A large variety of colors is possible with the use of hardwoods without even resorting to dyes. Nature most often does a better job with color than man-made finishes.

The accent color in my living room is cobalt, so most of my picture frames are that color, which I find doesn't clash with the colors of the photos inside. Other than that, I prefer wood or simply black. I think it's important not to detract from the picture itself.

Like the colors.. Suggest mixing up the frame sizes.. I love putting one of my frames on a small easel or plate stand ..gives it that extra pop

I say yes to color somewhere since it is otherwise very neutral. Besides it is so easy to change the color of a frame, if you get tired of it just buy a can of spray paint or a bottle of craft paint. Make a statement with color it is the spice of the decor. Of course you want it to enhance not take away from the photos and room so have a color scheme in mind. Vary the sizes and shapes too for interest.

It's interesting that it appears quite a few people are making statements as if there were decorating laws that you may not deviate from, an example: black frames on stark white walls only. No substitutions.

My vote? If you like the multi color scheme go for it. Feel free to have fun with a feature wall, bedding and accessories. It all can be changed as the boy grows up, or your tastes change.

I looked up Jay Strongwater. Pretty kitschy IMO. If you wish to spend money on frames, go with clean lined sterling silver. Among many brands Christofle is beautiful, and there are many companies you do nice Sterling at various price points. There are also decent cleaned lined frames available at Target, etc. Remember you are decorating a boy's room, things do happen.

For a classic scheme you can't beat white or silver frames, but coloured ones would work really well in a kids room.

The colored frames would look great with black and white photos. Also, I agree the size needs to mixed up a little, you could definitely use a bigger one in that arrangement.

Totally personal preference. My preference is towards black frames. Colored frames draw your eye away from the art or photo.
