Hello Houzzers,

Just moved into this house and I've got this area to the left of my detached garage that is such an eye sore. There used to be a structure there but it was built illegally and had to be removed.

I'm planning on turning the detached garage into a studio space- any ideas at all on what to do with this area to the left? It's probably 13 feet wide by 35 feet deep. I just started to put some mulch down (that's the dark stuff) to at least cover the horrible sandy dirt that's native to San Fernando valley of Southern California. Note - there is a patio area already to the right of the garage that could be used for outdoor dining.

I guess I could use it as outdoor garden space but still not even sure best way to lay it out.
