I have an open-plan 2-story family room. Recently, I purchased furniture and a rug for the space. While I'd like to "freshen" the wall color, I can't commit to painting the whole space since it continues into the upstairs hall and foyer. I'm looking for ideas on treating the lower half of the room with a transition to the existing. Also, do you think I should use a cooler (gray) color?
