I would put the beautiful granite on the island where it will show off the best. For the other countertops, I would use a mostly white quartz product.

Since you are using different cabinet colors, you may find that one granite on both areas provides a more cohesive look. Also, take into account how much light you have in the kitchen....the darker your granite, the darker the area will appear. You may want a lighter choice. Good luck!

With different finishes, I would use different countertops, but keeping one very neutral and without pattern so that the star of the show is the granite, on the island. Light countertops are also much easier to use as we get older.

I like both of the suggestions above, either just one countertop choice or a very plain one on the perimeter and your pictured choice on the island. If you go with your choice for the whole kitchen (which I think would look nice), I'd choose a very simple, plain backsplash.

I love the first one I posted it brings out the colors of the cabinets and has so many colors.... It is the one I was drawn too, on line then without knowing it in the showroom.. I know it is dark but I have a lot of lighting both above and under cabinets I like the off white backsplash which I posted.

Just don't mix granites. Black pearl is beautiful, but I don't see it in that kitchen.

I am having trouble deciding on granite...dark cabinets light floors light back splash, dark granite or light. I have a dilemma.......

It's because of the dark cabinets that I would choose an almost white quartz countertop for the wall cabinets. But on your island where you have a pearl finish, which I take to be pearl colored, I would use the beautiful granite there where it's medium to dark tones will contrast nicely with the island's color.

Let me start out by saying I love the granite! However, it is a very busy pattern maybe to busy for every counter. A lot of the time we see a sample even a slab that is just absolutely to die for and we think we have to have it. But nobody takes the time to visualize this busy pattern in their kitchen. It can be overpowering. I agree with Carolyn that it may be a good idea to use it on the island only. Let it take center stage. As for the rest of your counters I would use a quartz in a tan pulled from the granite Using a more solid coloring on the rest of your countertops will allow you to have a little more freedom with your backsplash.

Thanks everyone. This granite is a beautiful piece crema Bordeaux. I first saw it on line and loved it. When I went to a granite showroom this past weekend, it was the first piece I saw. The piece is not identical to the one that I posted. My cabinets are cherry with cinnamon finish. I can go with a solid on the island, but really want this on my counters, my floor is light and I plan to do a light back splash. My husband and I are going back next weekend, that will give me a week to think about it. I do appreciate everyone's suggestions.

Well, you've seen the Crema Bordeaux in person and loved it. Personally, my favorite option is to vary only cabinets or counter, but not both. If both are varied it can look a bit like a checkerboard. So, if you have a different color for your island cabinets, then I'd use the same color granite for the whole kitchen. Or, have the same color cabinets everywhere and vary the counter (island interesting, perimeter plain). In your case, you have different cabinets and a choice of counter that works very nicely with both cabinet colors. I think you're wanting Crema Bordeaux for the whole kitchen, and I think that's a good plan and should work nicely.

It's going to be a very pretty kitchen. I think you've made great decisions.

My island is really like an ilet. I thought I would have room for a larger one with eating space but it didn't,t work out like that. I chose the different color for the island because of the size of the kitchen. After the cabinets came in I think I would have preferred it the same color. But I do like the contrast. I have looked at 100's of pictures of this granite mostly are on dark cabinets, I am drawn to this one. I am going back this weekend and look at it again. Thanks everyone.

I would suggest a light cream color granite with less busyness. Dark granite with dark cabinets will close the kitchen in. My in-laws have a wide open kitchen with dark cherry cabinets and dark granite. It made the kitchen look so small and no contrast. I love this look (link)

I have decided typhoon Bordeaux on both island and cabinets hard decision but I think it will be very pretty.

What is better, separate pendant lightning above an island or a 3 light chandelier? Island size is 26" x 54"?

That's a small island, so one fixture might serve it better. Perhaps a small rectangular fixture.

What about a large round fixture? I like how this one is open so it keeps the space open as well. It's available in multiple sizes.
