Oddly enough my foyer never gets used as a foyer- everyone comes into/out of our home through out "mudroom" entry. But the area is passed through several times a day by our family as well as guests and I would like to make it look nice. This home was bult in the early 90's and not updated at all till we moved in a year ago. A lot of our budget has been eaten up by projects that we have already done so the budget isn't huge but I think even a little bit will go a long way here. The door has to stay for another year but am looking to paint it- color suggestions? The room will be painted gray color similar to the rooms around it. Also I obviously need a new rug- looking for suggestions there as well. Also wondering what wall makes the most sense to put a console type table at: The wall directly across from the front door or to the right left of the door. I'm inclined to put it straght across from the door. I do feel the wall to the left of the door needs something though- it goes up the the second floor. Suggestions? Maybe a really tall leaning mirror? Also looking for ideas on the stair case. Unfortunately their is not skirting on the stairs but that will have to be addressed at a later date unless there is an easy fix- and im guessing there is not! :) But thoughts on painting or leaving the spindles and/or railing? Lighting?
