Feedback desired: luxury vinyl tile / plank floors

Anybody have the newer "Luxury vinyl plank" or tile floors installed? Or have a friend/family member with them?? We're doing a whole house reno and looking for affordable, diy friendly options for 2nd floor hallway/office. Wondering how people feel they are holding up - and WHICH manufacturer/line you bought. Thanks in advance for any reviews!

drats - was trying to attach some images from Houzz --- don't know how. :( do I have to save them from Houzz to my hard-drive on computer then post them?

I just read an in-depth discussion of some brands of LVP on Houzz a few days ago. Maybe try entering luxury vinyl plank in the search box and see if it pops up. I'm sure it would give you some good info.

Thanks for the suggestion. I actually HAD searched for LVP and clicked on the first items to come up and saw beautiful pictures in Houzz. I didn't realize I can scroll down and also search Discussion Forum for input. Off to do so now! Thanks again! Newbie here :)

We have luxury vinyl tiles in our mudroom, laundry room and kids bathrooms and we love them. Our house is about 2 years old and they look brand new still. We have a little boy and I was concerned with his "aiming issues" if you will, but I haven't noticed any stains in the grout or stinky urine smells. I believe they require a different type of grout, one that's specific to luxury vinyl tiles and If I remember correctly it does not have to be sealed.

I should add, you can't tell their not real tiles unless you get down and run your finger nail on them. When you do that you can tell that they don't feel quite like real tile but ours have all the grooves and uneven surfaces of the real thing.

We put a snap together vinyl plank (oak finish) in our basement. Main reason was because it was water proof (we had a burst pipe last winter). It is also visible from our upstairs foyer and they really look like oak. We got the snap together instead of stick together so we didn't have to worry about it separating.

Installed 1000 sq. ft. Of Mannington Adura in our basement last month. Reason for LVP was that it is a basement that may potentially have water issues some day (hopefully not). We also have 5 cats, so needed something that could take abuse.

I love the looks and feel of it. It has worn very well since installation. No scratches. Incredibly easy to clean - swifter every few days and done

I have seen the amtica installed in an eye clinic locally, VERY heavy commercial traffic on it every day and after two years barely a mark on it. Looks like it did when I saw it newly installed. I speaking to the installer I found out it had a very thick wear layer, thicker than most and it looks like real wood. Here's a couple of photos I took;

The biggest thing to look for is the wear-layer. For heavy traffic, we recommend at least 30 mil (0.7-8 mm). If you want the best protection on the market, check out Modin Vinyl Plank, with a 40 mil wear-layer, which also comes in large 9" width and 60" length:

CoreTec Plus is a great brand. These floors have a thick, plastic core that makes the flooring resemble real wood flooring. Thinner LVP floors don't hold there shape, which results in "telescoping" or taking on waves and slight dips in the floor. Also, the CoreTec is completely waterproof. If you have a flood, pull it up, dry it off and re-install. www.danielsfloors.com

we installed core tec plus almost 2 yrs ago in family, dining & living room. We have 3 large dogs (one is a very energetic puppy) and it still looks new. We did wide plank and it has the cork-like padding on the back of each & it just clicks together and is easy to cut to length. It's quiet and very cushy to walk on. I damp mop with water only, no special cleaner required (although they do have special vinyl cleaner if you like that stuff). We just purchased 22 more boxes to replace floors in bedrooms & guest bath. Visitors can't believe it's vinyl. We love it.
