What is your style? You have options depending upon the look you want to achieve. What are the interiors like?

BM Dragons breath for the house,with an orange front door BM Gargoyle for the shutters ...totally different than what you have but maybe a change would be good

We are contemporary...would love to add some bright ceramic pots....bright painted front door?

and definitely a large urn to the left of the door...an insulated one so you can have a woody plant, like maybe corylus contorta in the center, and change the underplantings seasonally.

Okay, if you want to modernize, replace house numbers with black larger,simpler ones. Replace the light fixture with a more modern one. Place a simple glazed or black planter to the left of the front door, possibly planted with tall grass or other tall modern looking plant. Your front door would have to be replaced because it screams traditional. Then I would follow the advice above and pick a screamin' color for the front door. Have fun with your project.

A pale to medium grey would look great with your siding as well as the steps and roof. As for your door, I suggest a bright yellow with grey surround or a deep grey. I also suggest you add colorful bedding plants and window boxes in white or to match the shutters. I have attached 4 seasons of windowboxes which may give you some ideas.
