I have a style that is either contemporary or elegant. I am very confused on what would go best. Something of a drum shade with crystals or a mesh ball...not sure.

It looks like the room is pretty clean and simple right now. How about something more decorative to really make a statement? I love this flush mount fixture from Cassini. I installed it in a client's home and it is just gorgeous. There's always a Jonathan Adler sputnik fixture too...

If you like Lindsay's suggestions you could also consider the Jonathan Adler anemone light. I use this as a sconce and it casts a very cool light. The smaller one is well priced under $200. It will not give a ton of light but I tend to not expect a lot of overhead light in a bedroom and assume you will also have bedside lamps?

I was thinking of a simple white drum pendant light. Here is my dilemma...would you go with an off white fabric or a white fabric? Also, I absolutely HATE the cheap look of the plastic diffuser. Would you know where I could find one?

An off-white would be nice so that there's some contrast between it and the white ceiling.

Terryberry: It depends. An off-white fabric combined with bulbs that have a low/warm color temperature will look very yellowy because the bulb emits a yellowish-white light as is. A white fabric combined with a high/cool color temperature bulb would create more "natural" white light, but also possibly be more susceptible to dust and dirt. (Not to say the off-white one won't be, because it will, but the white one may just show things even more.) Really it's up to you, the kind of light you want, the general look you want to convey, etc.

How about roman shade pattern and color ideas? I have a 10x12 room with small windows?
