I redoing my kitchen and am having cupboards painted bone color with distressed dark wash finish. Should I do a dark or light granite counter top?

Thanks Angela. I hadn't thought about it much because I've spent so much energy working on the wood. It often looks a bit dark in there so maybe a mirror or something metallic would work.

Georgian green will look beautiful with the wood and style of your wonderful room. I think the Georgian green would be beautiful in the back of the bookcases, I just don't see shiny or metallic would be in keeping with the natural feel of your Craftsman details. I can see some wonderful William Morris wallpaper, but you don't have a lot of wall space, or space behind the bookcases.

A metallic paint like "Pewter" or even alighted metallic like "Platinum" from Modern Master's "Metallic Collection" would be elegant and a twinkle that would pick up on the leaded windows. Their color chart as seen here:

If I go with the green I can always add wallpaper or something else later. I'm not planning to ever put it up on the walls, but maybe in the bookcase.

A metallic also sounds interesting.

Oh sorry, that's what I meant...the metallic was a suggestion for an accent in the bookcases; not, in this case for the walls. Cheers.

I understood! Once I put stuff back on the shelves I'm not really sure what will show. The shelves are kind of small

paint inside of shelves same as walls. not the type of room for glitz. good looking house.

Thank you everyone. I think I'm going to go with the Georgian green and then if I want some contrast later I can do it. Im SOOOO happy to even be at the painting phase. And then I had plans to paint it myself but have (I think) wisely decided to go with a pro. They're now coming thirds for sure.
